I say:
3 people over 4 walks
Postmen A & B deliver all mail on walks 1 & 2 (Mon)
Postman C delivers priority items on walks 3 & 4 (Mon)
Postmen A & B deliver all mail on walks 3 & 4 (Tues)
Postman C delivers priority items on walks 1 & 2 (Tues)
And so on through the week (except Sat when 2 OPG go across all 4 walks with priority items.
Rep says:
Postmen A & B work across walks 1 & 2 all week with 1 OPG walking the walks on alternate days whilst the other just covers priority items on the other walk.
I just can’t see how 2 OPG covering 2 walks this way saves RM money. Neither can I see how 1 OPG struggles round with double or triple mail every day while his partner just drives around delivering 40 tracked items & 40 1st class letters.

Re: Delivery Method Change?
If you've ever done 1st class and all parcels on 2 duties you'd realise how stupid your statement is.qwerty2 wrote: ↑06 Feb 2025, 17:36They’ll be hiding / sitting in the vanpostiewhite wrote: ↑06 Feb 2025, 16:22The person doing the tracked and 1C should realistically go and take a bag or two off the walkers if they have timeGRS wrote: ↑06 Feb 2025, 07:18Please correct me if I’m wrong on this method but myself & out rep seem to disagree how this new delivery method works.

Re: Delivery Method Change?
Lots of van share partners refuse to help the other postman to finish off his loops and are content to sit in van and wait even if loops are known to be imbalanced or one side clearly gets more parcels than the other. Of course the 3rd person won't rush round to take loops off the 2 with double days. Unless this is thrown out quickly and they have a rethink on the way to manage this whole affair then it's got massive fail written all over it.

Re: Delivery Method Change?
A lot of staff have only ever done reasonably sized, compact, close to the office, singleton, same duty every day kind of walks/driving. That's going to be just as big if not bigger an issue as the volume of mail that builds up on duties. We have staff that point blank refuse to work in a pairing for example, never have, and they are being thrown together into a 3 staff cover 4 duties arrangement.

Re: Delivery Method Change?
I think it might happen more with the duty holders though as they will be rotating that role once every 3 weeks but what should happen is that the 3rd postie doing parcels should be going back to the office at the same time as the ones doing the mail on the other round or agree to come back earlier only if there are D2Ds to prep. Imagine your in a team of 3 and the parcel driver is sat with their feet up when you get back? Stuff like this will cause arguments which is why it probably needs to be a forced rule by the managers.jessicarabbit wrote: ↑06 Feb 2025, 19:12Lots of van share partners refuse to help the other postman to finish off his loops and are content to sit in van and wait even if loops are known to be imbalanced or one side clearly gets more parcels than the other. Good. They are not a level above, definitely a big change for them though.Perseus wrote: ↑06 Feb 2025, 19:16A lot of staff have only ever done reasonably sized, compact, close to the office, singleton, same duty every day kind of walks/driving. I'm not sure many want to deal with the fall out, as nobody wants to partner up with people who refuse to work together as a group. A classic failing by management taking the easy option for years.postiewhite wrote: ↑06 Feb 2025, 19:35Good. Re: Delivery Method Change?
I'm guessing most that work on their own will either have a rural duty or a town duty which may not affect them in this new way as a lot of these won't be paired up.Perseus wrote: ↑06 Feb 2025, 19:40I'm not sure many want to deal with the fall out, as nobody wants to partner up with people who refuse to work together as a group. It will be interesting in our office though as the guy that does the town duty only has 3 years seniority but no one really wanted that duty in the repicks at the time. I wonder how many now will want to go for that just so they can work on their own?!

Re: Delivery Method Change?
Some walks might just not be suitable for combining with another walk due to physical distances etc. Think it was Tony B that pretty much said
that 'It's not a one size fits all' (my paraphrasing) thing in one of the CWU Live UTube thingies.
