Re: The "How was your day" thread.
The heaviest day I've experienced so far in my 2 months with RM. Loads and loads of parcels & flats, had to cut off at 2 as my partner had other jobs to do. Went back out to deliver what we couldn't finish and I've just got in. Cream crackered is an understatement

brought back memories of 2005/6 - todays busy day was an average day back then but I was naive and easily fooled.

Update on this....we were granted a "grace" break of 10mins extra to the usual "lunch" entitlement to take before delivery, so as soon as everyone finished sorting we took it; thus a lot more absorption cut offs occured and strangely enough we are now allowed tea etc on our walk prep frames!krussel wrote:ewancurze wrote:I'm game to give it a go but i doubt if a lot of the others will be.krussel wrote:We had this a few years back. What you need to do is get everyone to have a drink ready and when you get called up say "oh ok i will just finish my drink or it will go cold" or something to that effect. You than hang around for a few mins supping.ewancurze wrote:Ban on drinks while sorting from today...![]()
Drives them nuts and normally does the trick.
Extra managers coming in Monday to enforce it..
There are other ways like everyone needing the loo at the same time (ips time) forming a queue etc. You need to get backing but if everyone is fed up with it. More than one way to crack an egg etc.
So a sensible compromise was sorted out but only after a lot of unnecessary messing about.

Yeah its funny how we seem to have to go through these silly things every now and then.ewancurze wrote:Update on this....we were granted a "grace" break of 10mins extra to the usual "lunch" entitlement to take before delivery, so as soon as everyone finished sorting we took it; thus a lot more absorption cut offs occured and strangely enough we are now allowed tea etc on our walk prep frames!krussel wrote:ewancurze wrote:I'm game to give it a go but i doubt if a lot of the others will be.krussel wrote:We had this a few years back. Busy day, came in at 8.30 to an empty frame. Had to prep both, ready to leave at 10.45. Dropped 2 bags and a york full of packets. Back at 3.15.

Today I saw mail for a Debbie Harry, a Graham Taylor and probably the best name ever: Sandy Alkali.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Another manic day, started at 7 as my partner doesn't get in until 8.30, didn't get out until 10.15 and had to do a flex first, didn't finish until 3.15.

Re: The "How was your day" thread.
Very busy again today. I've been hitting nearly every door for the last couple of days now. Bloody council and their council tax rubbish.
Shattered and still recovering.
