The whole office would be sacked, as I said I have only worked for RM for a few years and only at one place, but I have been told its a unique office on a number of occasions.Pinky 1 wrote:Is this the senario whereby managers call it operational needs, but if you willfully delay the mail you can be sacked ?newtimes wrote:Very heavy day, I have only been with RM for a few years and only at one location, we leave the last feed till the next day apart from local SD, Track and parcels, is that a typical practice for the Christmas period. Thats why most deliveries are out by 7.30am.

Just like yesterday. In total, 1 HCT absolutely ramed full. Plus 3 bags. Packets same as yesterday. Rained all day. Got home very cold, wet and tired.

Same as every one else got frecking soaked in freezing rain.
Really foggy driving in but that cleared by the time i got out at 9.10am. Fine for the first 50 mins and then the first of the rain started and it got heavier and heavier. Christmas cards really love the rain and the soaked up the water like sponges. Not many plastic wrapped flats to protect the paper so it all got a lot wet.
Finshed around 2.45pm so over 5hr 30 min with a small break. Actually started singing to myself over the last hour to try and keep me going to the end.
One to forget

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: RM research reveals Christmas cards are making comeback
As the Ice did not clear till 1200 yesterday and the Managers did not send us out till 1130 and then only with packets - today was a killer - despite only taking 3 rows and packets, not sorting the 2nd phase or 2nd boxes and getting out at 8:30 - only just finished - Monday is going to be a

Sounds similar to my day. Left office at 11:00, last letter 15:55, got home at 17:15. Rained all day and had so much mail I couldn't get half of it in the boxes. Still.. long weekend.toonshola wrote:Left office at 11.50 with last letter being 5.40 really heavy crappy rainy day. Our first Xmas after park and loop and lets just say its a nightmare. Re: The "How was your day" thread.
Been bad all week. Never mind that we have no extra staff and that going over by 3 hours is expected.
A newbie in the office (second week) finished at 18:00 (6pm) yesterday. So sorry for him.
The advice by the DOM was ' You are too slow - walk faster'
Thoughts on these pearls of wisdom?

Re: The "How was your day" thread.
Sat.
A mixed bag really
Had 5 mech trays of letters which were mostly dsa. Then what we ips'd so letters went on for ever and ever. Three packet bags which seems the norm this year.
A few feeling the pressure today with a couple of bust ups (getting tired i guess). Things picked up when i got out as the weather was just fantastic. Early sun and very mild around 11 deg, it was lovely.
Finished at 2.45 which was late for a sat but pretty chilled really. Drove home through heavy rain shower so i finished just in time.

Re: The "How was your day" thread.
4 trays sequenced; 6 trays manual (vast majority were cards rather than thicker flats, so lots more items to prep); 4.5 sacks of packets... My heaviest walk prep ever. Massive section fail on IPS, loads carried over for Monday left in yorks, went 2 hours over even with ~25% taken off walk as Xmas assistance.
