We no longer write 739s out for the 1st attempt, we 739 the 2nd attempt, but make it hard to read or miss a number off the reference as punishment for not being in ……. Twice 😤
Firstly, why aren't you doing the job properly?
Secondly, this will lead to customers complaining that no-one attempted delivery.
Thirdly, leaving a card sometimes results in the customer adding a 'safe place' option the next day.
All unesessery, they get an email when delivery is attempted.

Quite often they also get an email prior to that the day before advising they should get the item the following day, also on the delivery day when we've scanned them all in and they still do f**k all knowing full well they won't be in.

Anytime I get something Tracked the e-mails are:
  • accepted into the network (we've got your item)
  • at the inward MC, typically the day before delivery (on its way)
  • scanned to route in the DO (due for delivery today)
  • and finally confirmation of delivery, or presumably non-delivery if applicable
The machine stops.

Exactly, the customer gets enough information to change the delivery date for when they will be in :thumbdown

Exactly, once when I tried a neighbour they said no because when I order something I know when it's coming so it's up to me to make sure I get it.

I thought to myself yes rather than do f**k all knowing you won't be in.

Or they'll just take the chance the postie will leave it in their usual safe place knowing if it's stolen or damaged they can claim the cost of it back?

The company needs to get on top of unreliable or unrelatable messaging.
Too many times now you get customers interpreting or being told that they will have a delivery on a certain day and standing expecting you to have it and it ends up being the next day.
They have overegged the pudding with comms and message generating scans and it’s over-complicating things imo.

You're all assuming the person you're delivering the item to to is the person who ordered it.
