That would be a great result in terms of keeping jobs, although might end up slightly unfair on other rounds who will be expected to make the savings by condensing 6 days worth of anything that isn't 1st class into 2 days one week then 3 days the next.
Rural rounds are also an issue for the pilot system because there is no saving to be had.
We've got HCT routes, but none that can't be done with a van, which is sometimes the case if we have enough. What happens currently to large parcels currently for the HCT routes?

No reason why rural rounds can''t also drop to delivering 2c every other day? Regardless something will have to be done with rural rounds if 1c/2c post keeps dropping, yesterday in my DO it was hardly worthwhile taking the mail out!
So there is the issue: ‘No reason rural can’t take 2c every other day’. But the van will be driving round a rural route, which will cover a large area, every day. There is zero cost saving to be had in alternating 2c days.

Two large vans go round with their oversize, as part of two walks.

I don’t know what make you have but we have LWB Peugeots and Vauxhalls in addition to medium and small vans.

I’m not sure why anyone is resistant to the idea of HCT users keeping their jobs? If you are seeking ways to get rid of HCT routes and make them van walks, that’s jobs you are taking away.

3 seaters? We have a couple and they ain't much bigger than the Peugeot/Vauxhall shitboxes that make up the rest of the fleet. Just outside the emissions zone btw

I don't think people are after cutting HCT routes it's just it doesn't fit into anything that RM want to bring in

Personally I reckon we’re looking at around 20% reduction in headcount. RM are only going to be undertaking such a massive change if it leads to a worthwhile saving on their biggest cost - us.

What I find (I’m sure I’m not the only one) is that the rumours, misunderstanding, speculation etc etc are the worst part of all of this big change. Surely any business needs staff on board to help deliver such a massive change. Ok I get that they want to force a lot of people out but even that is not going to happen naturally, say 10,000 may leave between now & implementation then you still need the remaining 70,000 on your side to deliver this change. The way I see it is that it will be the usual cock up because its implementation will be down to the interpretation of the office manger & unit rep.

The only way I could see this working out (duty structure wise) is exactly as posted on page 3 in the diagram. However worryingly our office rep is going round telling everyone that you will work in pairs across the same 2 walks every day. He reckons Monday Tom takes all mail on Walk 1 whilst Richard takes only 1C & tracked on Walk 2 then Tuesday it switches over & so on. I said to him that no way is that going to happen……for a start as a pair you’re actually doing less work than you do now & secondly RM will be employing the same amount of staff as now so zero savings.

Unless RM & the Union actually come out & put everything on the table & ditch the cloak & dagger approach that they’ve BOTH adopted then this is once again going to be a hideous cock up with zero buy in from staff.

I have no idea why you are suggesting 2 LWBs are going to cover 25000 delivery points

We are being told all our duties, including HCT's which I often cover are being subjected to method change which is why I'm trying to understand it.

I can't see how HCT routes won't be subject to the same changes the rest of the office faces, how that is implemented is anybodys guess for now
