Give and take is up to the individual. It is important though to be aware of your rights in the workplace, so as you can make your own decision. I’ve never been contacted while on a break or while on leave, because I have made it clear that I don’t want to be. It isn’t a big deal and doesn’t make you a ‘jobs-worth old raving lefty’ for wanting your free time to belong to you, not your employer.
