You are wrong , its 7 hours 1 minute for a 40 minute meal relief2chorizon wrote: ↑06 Mar 2024, 16:41Does anyone check what meal relief these “leaving early people” are actually entitled too?
Only those working 7:59hrs or more are entitled to 40 mins MR
Below that the MR is only 30mins.
That means by law you have to take 20mins during the shift and would only be able to leave 10mins early
So all PT’s should not be leaving early.
The same goes for anyone on the new contracts which only have 30mins unpaid MR.
Get it checked and BUST’EM

Re: Working your full weekly hours
Those on new contracts or 40 hours or more are contractually entitled to a 40-minute meal relief. I don’t know about those contracts less than 40 hours…. This contractual entitlement is twice the legal minimum (which is a mere 20 mins)2chorizon wrote: ↑06 Mar 2024, 16:41Does anyone check what meal relief these “leaving early people” are actually entitled too?

(The de facto rule at our gaff, until all of this silly network extension business, was that you had to have 20 minutes of break at some stage during your proper working day but that the remaining 20 minutes could be used to enable you to sign out 20 minutes before the end of shift. Seems fair enough given that our breaks are unpaid in any event!)

Thanks for sharing the link. While I see what is said, sadly those of us on new-style delivery contracts are only entitled to unpaid breaks. That therefore means that our eight-hour shift is theoretically 8hrs 40 mins in length!SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑06 Mar 2024, 19:06Meal relief length is down to the length of the shift on the day.Smoothbackground wrote: ↑06 Mar 2024, 17:31Those on new contracts or 40 hours or more are contractually entitled to a 40-minute meal relief. Re: Working your full weekly hours
Interesting, thanks. Yes, I sort of see what you mean. I have been through my contract just now, and nowhere in it does it refer to the length of any unpaid break being 40 minutes, just making it clear that pay is “excluding any meal relief”. If the law says 20 minutes, where do we get 30 minutes, or even 40 minutes, from?! (I’ve got the 40 minutes from being told it the day I started, along with it already being the established custom and practice with the new starter cohort in our office.)

so unfortunatley you do not get to trade some of it to “finish early” those who are still trying to pull this are about to be dealt with, why? because fake liar “exemption” mofo’s are about to F It up
for all
of
them.

Re: Working your full weekly hours
On the basis of this I should be finishing 10 minutes earlier, as it seems my 8h 40 mins shift should only be 8h 30 mins. I am going to speak to one of our friendlier managers today to see what’s going on and where they get the 40 mins from.2chorizon wrote: ↑06 Mar 2024, 22:36On new contract you get 30mins MR unpaidSmoothbackground wrote: ↑06 Mar 2024, 20:29Interesting, thanks. Re: Working your full weekly hours
Thanks for the link to the earlier thread, 2chorizon, don’t know how I missed it!
Spoke to one of our managers about it today, who said the 40 minutes was arrived at as a national RM policy so that the breaks align between new starters and old-time contracts. Didn’t sound too sure about it, mind!
