The PDA may well vomit out an endless stream of daily statistics for the laptop class to pour over, yet anyone who had come up through the pay grades (if they still existed) would be able to recognise those numbers are only sketches of the real world. Is there even a place in those numbers for the quantification of a person? Can they measure how you feel after four hours of rain? When they see those sign-out times they do not see people trying to eke out a few more minutes for their personal lives from more hard labour. They see next year's budget savings. People reduced to machinery, overdriven to breakdown.

No, that is your agenda. Or should I say new job apparently, seeing as you are sad enough to be posting at midnight on a forum dedicated to a job youCarryingMGMT wrote: ↑23 Feb 2024, 00:31I'm sure if someone trawled through your post history they would find you bragging about having a 6/6.15ish start time within the last few months.
Why are you lieing about how great you've got it at your office? So strange, it's almost like you have some sort of agenda with your posts on here, although I can't work out what that would be other than trying to wind people up![]()
Mate, I have seen off bigger and better than you in the last few years. You are wasting your time, but if you need something to think about before going to bed, have at it. I’ll just make you look as silly as they did before they trotted off (or were banned)couldn’t wait to leave
On topic, you can trawl through as many posts as you like. You obviously have enough spare time to do so. I’m not revealing my exact start and finish times, as muppets on here have tried to dox me before, but suffice to say we will be starting before 7am and finishing before it gets dark. And keeping 9-day fortnights. Happy days.

Higher ups won't give a s**t. A few months down the line they'll be looking to make more savings. Having plenty of people scanning out before their official finish time will be easy pickings for them.LouBarlow wrote: ↑22 Feb 2024, 21:27Why would they care then if people were being allowed to clock out before their time -20 minutes? The fact that we don’t have absorption should tell you that we have been squeezed as much as possible already.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑22 Feb 2024, 19:35Just means that they've not yet looked for savings from your officeLouBarlow wrote: ↑22 Feb 2024, 18:13This isn’t true. If anyone is allowed to clock out early without permission our office managers get immediately questioned by the managers above them and we then get bollocked. We have been clocking out 20 minutes early, since clocking out was a thing, and it continues without issue and we have no lapsing either.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑22 Feb 2024, 12:05A trap that many will fall for. A few months down the line the higher ups will query the system for the weekly average of the difference between when people's shifts are supposed to end and when they actually scan out at. Each COM will then be ordered to make that amount of time in savings.chickenwittle wrote: ↑22 Feb 2024, 11:09Our boss said the exact opposite, 20 mins of our break time can be taken at the end agreed with Royal Mail and CWU to mitigate later finish.Smoothbackground wrote: ↑20 Feb 2024, 17:36I explicitly asked this question to our DOM today in our WTLL on the network time changes, and he said part of the break cannot be taken at the end of the shift (ie clock out 20 minutes early) as it had been prevented by the higher-ups! Do you have a source for the national agreement, Ren Hoëk? Not a trick question — I have been saving half of my break and leaving 20 mins early pretty much since I went permanent, and I would like to continue if possible. Not fussed about starting later too much but would like to continue to shorten my working day by 20 mins if I can. (Our depot’s standard change is 55 minutes later, last lorry now at 8.20 am-ish.)
Posties are also tracked and if they have more than 20 minutes out on delivery and still go home 20 early, they get questioned and conduct coded. It is all being monitored more than people think.
If anything they will leave us alone. We are all made to stay till our finish time and sent back out if necessary. We have had finishes after 2.30 for years now and we are performing great.
Realignments/revisions are just about 100% guaranteed in MCs due to the network changes. Any DO that isn't having a revision and resign now is bound to get a revision within the next year. The only thing that the screws and their bosses will care about is how many more hours they can make in savings.
I don't think we've seen the absolute final times, I don't think RM have factored in traffic on the roads, which is going to push back arrival times into DOs even further.

The majority of posties are going through a bad time at the moment. You on the other hand seem to be gloating on this forum about how good it is at your specific office. With your 9 day fortnights, 6am starts and "well managed" DO.LouBarlow wrote: ↑23 Feb 2024, 05:31No, that is your agenda. Unfortunately, this will likely be the case. Our unit was one of the best performing in the region but we were warned by our Area rep a few years ago to take our breaks, not rush round, do the job properly etc etc. But many posties did not heed the warnings and what happened is that they got rid of our old shifts and had us all working a uniform 5 day week, they then took duties out last year and made them unachievable. We were told that they had based it on SISO and our PDA actuals.
I also agree with you that we have not seen the absolute finish times either, regardless of what posties have been told or what is on paper right now as they are just estimates. Some areas of the country are undoubtedly going to be hit a lot worse than others and it would probably make a lot of sense for the business to give the worse case scenario, and they have with the 90 minutes extended that is in the *current* agreement.

Not sure why some people think Royal Mail haven't factored in for the extra traffic. They time the runs with an empty van if there are any new runs in our mail centre to see how long it takes. I know it's Royal Mail we are talking about but the amount of extra traffic is the first thing that would come to mind with any network changes I'm sure they are not that stupid.

Years ago I used to be 5-12 Mon to Fri and 5-10 on a Saturday, now going to a 9:55 start!
Pretty rough to think that I'll be starting after I used to be finished on a Saturday.
Lots of unhappy people in our office, as I'm sure there are in plenty offices, exemptions aren't a thing either as we'll have no mail in early.

Never seen them timing any new runs. There aren't the drivers to spare to do that. Knowing RM if they did, they'd chose a day with very little traffic to time the run.wolfman wrote: ↑23 Feb 2024, 17:49Not sure why some people think Royal Mail haven't factored in for the extra traffic. The only pattern that has happened consistently in our business, that is there for all to see, is that we have continually started and finished later. I've not seen or heard anything from the company to the contrary. So regardless of what start and finish times are now, it's likely to be something different in the next 5-10 years! When you see Amazon drivers delivering parcels at 7pm on a Sunday night this is where our business seems to be heading. Obviously, it's different walking round delivering letters at this time and there might be some allowances made for last letter times, but not for parcels.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

I'd well believe that. It's always a suspiciously quiet day anytime upper management come for a visit, the following day is guaranteed horrendousSpacePhoenix wrote: ↑23 Feb 2024, 19:39Never seen them timing any new runs. I'd imagine they don't even need to send a vehicle, sat navs/Google maps with live traffic info are very accurate these days.wolfman wrote: ↑23 Feb 2024, 17:49Not sure why some people think Royal Mail haven't factored in for the extra traffic. It was once a complaint that it wasn't really the second delivery that was scrapped, it was the first. Soon both will be true.hummingbird's_wings wrote: ↑23 Feb 2024, 18:42Pretty rough to think that I'll be starting after I used to be finished on a Saturday.

It isn’t gloating, it is presenting an alternative experience, proving that offices can be run properly and the job be enjoyable. I appreciate I am in the minority and am appreciative of that fact. You on the other hand, are gloating and demeaning towards new starters in every thread here, and I get it. You obviously have no better things to do, or are bitter that you thought the ‘grass was greener’ after leaving the company, but suddenly realised you want back in on your old terms. A lot do. I guess that is why you are so horrible to the new starters, as you realise that would be you if you signed up at RM again, as you secretly want to do.CarryingMGMT wrote: ↑23 Feb 2024, 15:32The majority of posties are going through a bad time at the moment. Keep up your amazingly good delivery office, daily good news for the 95% suffering, reading your self absorbed nonsense.
Please keep it up!
What was your start time in December again? Oh aye, 6am-ish
So now you are a 9 day fortnight? Best of luck keeping that over and above 95% of genuine OPG's across the UK. Hope that works out for you

Random ex posties? Or just the ex posties who try to bully and demean others on this forum? I don’t think Lou has put anybody down, “random” ex posties or just ex posties at large - he has just put them back in their box following an outburst from them, albeit responding in a much politer and respectful way.
