It wouldn't bother me in the slightest as I don't do overtime any more, but in terms of the office and any of the rounds being in any way complete-able sans overtime ... I just don't see it. Surely that is utter bullsh*t of the ninth variety.
Next week you're on the budget side of the famous Royal Mail new revision budget/quality flip-flop.
Walks will fail, conference calls will get heated, managers will be forced to dust off the walking gear and the following week you will flop back on to quality with an unlimited overtime budget.
It's a fun ride...enjoy it. :Very Happy

"Well, it's today." (no "oh sh*t, I'm sorry, I didn't realise", just a mechanical consultation of various sheets followed by a stone face - as if it was my fault more than anything)
I don't understand how difficult it is to put a name against each duty, for every day and display it in advance for all to see.
The problems begin when you try to shaft the reserves with having every Tuesday off etc. Which isn't all right but when you have people without the required intelligence to do the staffing for a whole week ahead, the whole thing becomes farcical.
It would be much easier if we just went back to the old days on the docks when loads of people turned up and some were given work and others sent home, or raced off to another DO because there was a rumour there was a shortage there. This is the only method of staffing these people would be able to cope with and then they could just give the work to their buddies and the ones they know won't claim any overtime or cut off.

No.
Partly because of geography and mostly because they are a miserable lot Glasgow creates rain and exports it from west to east across the entire central belt in what is optimistically called a band.
A band would however suggest some end to it....

That's what they do at our D.O.! It's just that it's often wrong ... or else, the managers claim that it is wrong. It's not my problem if it's wrong, though, is it? I've spent £150 already making plans for Saturday, so I ain't going anywhere near work because somebody made a mess of the rota. As is always the case in our D.O., management try to throw the problem back at you so that it's yours to sort out. Not a f*cking chance.

Walks are failing already. I cannot say whether conference calls are getting heated. Management are in no shape to dust off the walking gear!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

My day well got in on time, rural delivery, ran round, got back 1.5 hours early, sent out to do packets then still finished 1 hour early. Woulda been ok if it wasn't for getting sent back out. Volumes seem to be up though espec for a Saturday.

Booked an hour for Saturday. Packets were really light. Probably would have finished earlier but for an NHS posting about the flu jab.
