Re: Delivery Method Change?
One person delivering 2 walks of first class, tracked, specials, collections and boxes is barely achievable on a lot of walks in our office and impossible at Christmas. Many of them needed 2 people doing this from the same van just to get close and that was without first class nonsense. 2 people will also have zero chance of completing the other full walks with all products as they too will be doing just tracked due to volumes. Unless the walks are made smaller this new method will fail.

Re: Delivery Method Change?
Lapsing? That went after the amazing pay deal and the seasonal working. I clearly remember the union saying it would end lapsing as the spare time was being moved to peak. Anyway, let's all look forward to the extra* saturdays off.postiewhite wrote: ↑05 Feb 2025, 08:01Has anyone mentioned the dreaded word LAPSING?
Is this going to be abolished, has the union even mentioned this?
Some lapsing in our office can take up to 1hr30 to 2hrs, others can take 20 minutes basically because of location so certain rounds have to be shared out over less duties.
Surely every round needs to be covered by bodies

Ask any postie, on any given day, would you rather just deliver to one flat or the whole block?kazardaimenu wrote: ↑05 Feb 2025, 06:15You’ll have people expected to go into care homes and top floor flats with a Tracked48 titchy EBay packet when they would have ordinarily been going round the whole block with mail. Waste of time. Just have one guy deliver every product for the area everyday but ditch the mail on Saturdays.
with DTS, I think even on your none-2c day (are we giving this day a name?), if there is a 1c letter due for a delivery point, then any 2c letters for that same delivery point will also come through.
Not sure they will be able to do same with parcel data. i.e. if you have a parcel, then any 2c letters should also come through for delivery.

Re: Delivery Method Change?
This is why it's been so badly thought through.
If they send all the the 2c you could just tie it to any packet due.
Instead, it'll be delayed for 3 or 4 days, or you'll be going to that address the day after with just a piece of crap if the machine decides it's due and releases it.
Really efficient, fk idiots.
I'm past caring,

Re: Delivery Method Change?
The people coming up with these plans are simply relying on OPGs not delivering any letters to awkward addresses at all on the van duties. Therefore all the big city, 'apartment' heavy DOs are being sold the short straw. Mumble mumble YouTube video, changing environment, need to adapt, any questions ask a rep to visit your DO, committed future, ask me anything but I won’t answer, satisfying the stakeholders, strategic future, standing at the crossroads.Londonsburning wrote: ↑05 Feb 2025, 14:31Your call CWU?posted wrote: ↑05 Feb 2025, 13:09Ask any postie, on any given day, would you rather just deliver to one flat or the whole block?kazardaimenu wrote: ↑05 Feb 2025, 06:15You’ll have people expected to go into care homes and top floor flats with a Tracked48 titchy EBay packet when they would have ordinarily been going round the whole block with mail. Re: Delivery Method Change?
The union already seem to have accepted that we'll all be happy to work 30 mins plus longer each day so we can have the odd Saturday off? What they should have been trying to force though was the previous suggestion that rounds would all be reduced by around 20%. Now every day will be like doing double mail, some days triple or more mail.Pidleypoo wrote: ↑05 Feb 2025, 10:31There won’t be lapsing as it is now but you’ll have your deliveries made so big that you’ll only do one side of mail and the tracked and first class off the other.postiewhite wrote: ↑05 Feb 2025, 09:59Oh dear.Pidleypoo wrote: ↑05 Feb 2025, 09:23Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but if you’re in an office where you’re doing both duties and lapsing then yours is the type of office in for a massive shock come these changes.postiewhite wrote: ↑05 Feb 2025, 08:01Has anyone mentioned the dreaded word LAPSING?

No idea how many duties your office has but you’ll lose a fair few imo.
I do think that offices that complete now and are clear are going to be hit hardest and for what it’s worth , I think that’s absolutely scandalous.
Just to add to this, it’s why it’s absolutely vital that the union listen and no matter what happens , we keep our start and finish times. None of this commit to deliver nonsense or ridiculous flexibility agreements that only ever work one way.

Re: Delivery Method Change?
Sorting though your tracked to find any post just adds time to prepping your tracked and also further time when out on delivery.Dexydog wrote: ↑05 Feb 2025, 14:23This is why it's been so badly thought through.

Re: Delivery Method Change?
It takes a lot less time to band a piece of mail already in a fitting to a tracked, than it does to walk up the same path the day after with a piece of mail you could have done the day before.
But, whatever.
But, whatever.

Re: Delivery Method Change?
Yeah they do keep saying that but I’m still only contracted to 37 hours a week so it’ll be tough for them to figure that one out.TopperGas wrote: ↑05 Feb 2025, 19:32The union already seem to have accepted that we'll all be happy to work 30 mins plus longer each day so we can have the odd Saturday off? Except the mail won’t be in the fitting. It’ll be held in the MC.
Will still be a clear frame policy.
Well, the less we say about that policy…
If there’s a 1c letter for that DP then you will be going there with the 2c letter too, even if it’s the non 2c day. The idea being the machines know if there’s a 1c for that DP, it releases the 2c letter too. Sounds clever in theory.
2c volumes are significantly more than 1c so there will be a huge drop in deliverable letters on non 2c day, that’s the call rate dropped then.
Does it mean you can do 2 of them walks combined in broadly same amount of time, not sure. That’s a lot of ground and dead walking to cover

Re: Delivery Method Change?
Doesn't this already happen? That's why currently we often get no mail for a certain address all week then a 1c is sent which triggers a bunch of 2c (usually gardening related) resulting in the customer asking why have you been holding my mail back?

The machine doesn't know if an address has a tracked packet, so no, it won't be there to deliver.
My point is, if this idea was so good, the letter would be there when it needs to be.
It's being fed through a machine continuously for potentially 3 or 4 days, and on each of those days you might have been delivering a tracked to that address.
It's ludicrous.
Seriously, I can't be arsed anymore thinking how bad an idea all of this is.
