Re: Realistic Timetable for USO change
The reason that there is nothing for the 3rd person to do on the Saturday is because that is their weekend off. 3 people operating that system will get every third Saturday off.

Because they haven't got anybody with a clue on how to revise the duties. Well apart from the posties that is and they wouldn't want to trust them would theyI wonder why the original suggestion of walks all being 20% shorter was replaced by postie's working longer days doing the same length duties?

Your office is definitely not on the list of 37?Jen1 wrote: ↑30 Jan 2025, 12:05Erm… our office is not even on the list of offices that are officially trialing this method
Is that because it’s only a few walks doing it? Do we just not give a flying hoot anymore about the legality of it and Royal Mail will just do what they like regardless?
Wonder how many years it’ll take before we all have to testify to the dodgy goings on by our beloved employers?

Re: Realistic Timetable for USO change
So those that have been there a good few years with good seniority that have their own rural duty for years (and never likely paired up ever) will more than likely have an equally big change to their comfier pattern of work?

Re: Realistic Timetable for USO change
Depends of how many hours they work? Im guessing if it's 18 hour contract then I'd guess 3 days still but anything over that they can get them in more days, for example a 24hr contract can be 4 days.Ozcabsmangan wrote: ↑30 Jan 2025, 17:46Thanks for replying, my friend is very concerned about this.A2B wrote: ↑30 Jan 2025, 17:42Unfortunately there's no real info about any duty patterns at the moment, what days/hours we work now could all changeOzcabsmangan wrote: ↑30 Jan 2025, 17:38I've asked before but does anyone know what will happen to the 3 day off cover staff????

No. You need to watch what was put out last night. It appears that the penny has dropped that singleton duties such as rural aren't paired up so can't be dropped every other day. Tony Boulch also alluded to the difficulty in dropping these duties on a Saturday as the geographical spread of rural duties means it will be difficult to combine them with another duty. He intimated that rural duties will continue as they are, as will firms duties. This of course is going to alienate yet more CWU members as paired duties watch the singleton duties go largely unaffected by the ODM. He also stated that it's kicked off over non-drivers getting every Saturday off. That was hardly a surprise. The CWU ain't helping itself is it.hewittinspain wrote: ↑31 Jan 2025, 08:33So those that have been there a good few years with good seniority that have their own rural duty for years (and never likely paired up ever) will more than likely have an equally big change to their comfier pattern of work?

What is stopping someone not wanting to drive anymore? I've seen it happen in our office where a driver lost confidence and they did permanently take him off driving. Is non drivers can get every Saturday off then what is stopping a handful of people saying the same thing? It does stink that non drivers seem to get a better deal and by that I mean they never get pulled about the driver safety etc. There are 4 in my office who have not been in the job 5 years and have been employed by word of mouth or manager's mates.tramssirhc wrote: ↑31 Jan 2025, 16:07No. You need to watch what was put out last night. Re: Realistic Timetable for USO change
Anyone employed prior to the 2010 Business Transformation Agreement does not have to undertake driving duties. Where a reasonable adjustment is being made that's fair enough. Anyone employed after the 2010 agreement is contractually obliged to undertake driving duties.hewittinspain wrote: ↑31 Jan 2025, 17:09What is stopping someone not wanting to drive anymore? Re: Realistic Timetable for USO change
Yeah you need to understand theres a difference between those employed when there wasnt a requirement to drive - there were in fact very few actual driving jobs - and those employed with the requirement who have since come off the driving for whatever reason
Royal Mail changed the job after we were employed. Its not the non drivers fault they did. We took the job because there was no requirement to drive.

Re: Realistic Timetable for USO change
This is something that has been mentioned in my office and is pertinent to others.
Some of our rurals take a large amount of time to drive round even only doing the first class, tracked and specials.
Some spend an hour a day driving to the first delivery point and back.
Such duties will not be able to cover two duties.

Nope not on that list to be fair if any of our duties are receiving post every other day it will be an improvement on the current situationtramssirhc wrote: ↑31 Jan 2025, 08:21Your office is definitely not on the list of 37?Jen1 wrote: ↑30 Jan 2025, 12:05Erm… our office is not even on the list of offices that are officially trialing this method

The briefing that TB gave said that it's not a one size fits all offices.michael147 wrote: ↑31 Jan 2025, 18:32This is something that has been mentioned in my office and is pertinent to others.
