Group revenues mean nothing when Royal Mail is leaking money. There is a reason the share price has stagnated.
Leaking money to shareholders and rotating parasitic executives. It's not because there's no work, we're not working, investment spending is too extravagant or the service is too cheap.
These arseheads need to look at themselves for where the money problems are coming from.
I'm a shareholder not received a penny in don't know how long am i missing out??

There was no dividend paid last year but the group expect to pay a modest dividend this year, but have not specified the amount.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Absolutely - 100%

No one can forget the record profits that RM made during the pandemic and gave it all away to wealthy shareholders. Then a few months later the company was allegedly losing a million quid a day and they imposed a few crumbs with an imposed 2% pay rise.

Even when we were out on a national strike in September 2022, four of our executives awarded themselves £2.4 million in shares. Knew I read about it somewhere, but here's a link

I’m talking yearly figures. The losses announced last year had nothing to do with money being given away 4 years ago. It isn’t hard to see why - operating costs are at record high levels, and traffic is down. We can argue about how busy we all are, but the reason is the size of the rounds, not the amount of items being sent.

I was replying to the other OP regarding executives giving our profits away and awarding themselves bonuses in return.

I agree that the duties have increased and we are all doing more work than before but did you actually read the link I sent?

Letter traffic was down but the revenue that we received from it actually increased due to price rises. Parcel traffic also increased. We did not make record losses last year Lou!! If you don't wish to believe that then that's entirely up to you.

I can only base my claims on the financial records provided by Royal Mail. As I said, if you have anything to back up your claim then providing it would be helpful. Links mentioning 2022 are not.

https://news.sky.com/story/royal-mail-d ... s-12883354

Royal Mail's parent firm has reported £748m in annual operating losses, driven by the crisis within the UK business that was dogged by strikes and poor performance.

International Distributions Services (IDS) laid the blame squarely at the foot of Royal Mail, which was in the red to the tune of just over £1bn during the 12 months to 26 March compared to profits of £250m the previous year.
And I say again, if things are rosier than is being let on, why are the share prices not reflecting this?

I don't think Royal Mail has been returning much to the shareholders for some years now but people still keep banging on about shareholders just because of that extraordinary payments just before end of COVID...

There were no dividends even before the special payout and in the last few years, capitals have been eroded but some folks will not stop yammering on and on

They were expecting a second half operating profit, on an adjusted basis, to broadly offset the £169 million operating loss in the first half, so the guidance remains about breakeven, excluding VR costs.

What would i trust, sky news and a headline grab or an actual trading update towards the end of the year?

There are a lot of factors affecting the share price of a company. It isn't uncommon for share prices to drop on good news. Maybe you should ask our resident billionaire Kretinsky why he keeps buying our shares?

Our company is entirely based on shareholders ever since we were privatised. Since 2013 they have received £2 billion. That's not small change Chris. People will always keep yammering on and on because as consumers we are paying more for a worse service and us workers are working our b*llocks off

But even the trading update that Pete links to says they are still running at a loss:

“We are expecting a second-half operating profit, on an adjusted basis, to broadly offset the £169 million operating loss in the first half, so our guidance for the full year **remains at about breakeven excluding voluntary redundancy costs**.

Where do the VR costs come from?!

Come on. If you want me to provide every news article, I can. Royal Mail are releasing these figures. It isn’t being made up by Sky or anyone else.

Well, there is no doubt that Royal Mail in saying that there was a "billion pound" operating loss was entirely deliberate. At the time they needed (and still do where the USO is concerned) great changes and were blaming the strikes, covid and everything else for it. What people don't realise is that the company in its self-confected financial crisis have also been spending millions of pounds as well, especially on these parcel hubs. That may well be reflected in the figures but in some ways the business has had to do this as its market share in the parcels industry is being eaten away by other parcel couriers. I read somewhere that the new Midlands hub can process parcels 6 times faster than the next largest mail centre so I'm sure investments like these will pay dividends in the future; just like reducing sick pay and recruiting staff on the new terms will.

Hopefully, they will be able to retain the staff because regardless of automation Royal Mail is still very much a people-driven business. But have no fear about the company's balance sheet - that war chest is still very much there!

You need to be able to separate Royal Mail from IDS. Yes, they do indeed have an abundance of funds, but RM is massively impacting on their bottom line. Any business will look to either reform or remove the element that is costing it money. It won’t blindly throw money at it in the hope things change. It will initiate the change.

Like I said earlier, Royal Mail actually bought GLS (or German parcels as it was then) with all the profits that it made in previous years. We are not running as two different companies on the stock exchange so as far as I'm concerned we are one and the same. All this crap about not cross-subsidising when Royal Mail has actually been doing it for years to get GLS off the ground!!

The only reason why Royal Mail is impacting on its own bottom line is entirely due to the changes that they are making which I've mentioned.
