I take your point but the remaining 50 plus k divided by 30ish quid a week gives me 32 years (not allowing for inflation).
On top I'm likely paying tax anyway on the extra 30 quid had I not gone down the contracting out route.
And it's nice to have that option if you're ill at that point in time, might as well blow it/give it away to family/charity.
On balance I will likely take the cash and invest it when the time comes, depending on my health.
I think you're right, Robert, generally contracting out was likely the best option for most people.

In terms of VR we are having a few agency workers taken on on the new bs contracts so can’t see any redundancies just yet.

That's my thoughts. They knew from the exercise on the App just how many would go. They then made the future as a postie sound so bad that those that were thinking of leaving probably did ,saving RM some money. The exercise said all papers were to be signed by 31st Jan to get the 6k sweetener so ,that's Tuesday. I think if your office has the revision plan in place and you haven't been offered it, most likely you won't be. They'll just muddle on not replacing staff who leave ,to get the numbers down for free. Shame, would have liked 20k to walk out the door with.

That’s right.Just a shame they weren't a bit more informative as to the how the process was being done.After initially applying there were no updates as to which offices we’re getting it.A shambles really !

Been monitoring this vr debate since it started so only fair I add in my experience.
Nearly 58 and done just under 26 years.
To be honest once January 31st passed I'd given up on vr and was wondering when to hand in my notice as I've had enough.
So you can imagine my surprise today when our manager rang me on delivery and said would you be interested in vr.Apparently due to the revision now being set up and ready to roll there were 2 vr slots.I was 4th on the list but luckily for me 2 above turned it down.
I asked about leaving date and he said probably end of March but possibly earlier.He also mentioned about using a solicitor and PILON.
So don't give up folks,the vr ship hasn't sailed yet.

You are correct in that the £6000 extra has gone but as I was leaving anyway it's a timely bonus
