That is simply not true. My friend works for them and has done most rounds and they are back 1-2 hours before their normal finish time, sometimes he is back at 12.30 and he is not one to run around.
My guess is you made that up.

Erm no I know when my rubbish isn’t collected. Councils all around the country are having their budgets squeezed. If you think they will allow workers to sit at home being paid you are deluded.

Don't forget different councils work in different ways, it's not Royal Mail where the rules are the same across the country. I've heard it from the horse's mouth and he told me that the latest he has ever finished is 3.30pm and that is only when another lorry has broken down and they rally round to help.You dont go back to the yard and do other jobs like you would in this job, once you finish you get in your car and go, they don't clock in/out. The job is done over 4 days but the another council will maybe do the same job over 5 days, I know Nottingham council they work 5 shorter days and Wakefield council it's over 4 days.
This may change but as yet it hasn't done in many years and even if it did change the finish time anyway is 4pm. It's the size of the our current jobs rounds you want to be worried about because big changes are around the corner.

For me, the huge bonus if I went on the bins is the job is what it is and on the whole their job is unlikely to change much in the foreseeable future.

I doubt they start the day by having to watch stupid 20 minute videos with dancing binmen talking about giving the customer the service they want and the need to encourage trust from refuse stakeholders. They aren’t told to photograph every bin they empty, or stop emptying on one street to go across town to empty a bin before 1pm. I doubt they have to go to a different village with 10 other trucks and empty 10 bins each. They aren’t told new methods to drag the bin to the back of the truck (‘if you pull it on one wheel while being careful not to tip it over, you can save 4 seconds a day’). I bet they don’t even have some idiot in the union suggesting they expand their role by taking a sponge and bottle of jif to clean every bin.

Simply turn up, a few checks, jump in the truck, start the round, pull bins to the back of the truck, repeat until finish.

I've had a better idea, as they go to every address how about they take a wad of Dominos/Hilary's blinds leaflets with them and just pop them through the letterbox

I've been actively looking at this forum for a few days and I don't see any positives to the job, more Saturdays off comes with a heavy price. I must admit I was unsure whether to jump ship but I can see a massive regret if I don't leave for the council.

I've been actively looking at this forum for a few days and I don't see any positives to the job, more Saturdays off comes with a heavy price. I must admit I was unsure whether to jump ship but I can see a massive regret if I don't leave for the council.

I've been a postie for a long time and one thing I will say is, every single person I know that's left has said it was the best thing they ever did. RM is the most toxic and downright shady employer I can think of and by quite a long shot too. It's only going to get a lot worse. Straight up "Amazon model" of working within the next few years
