This is simply a recruitment exercise at the expense of seniority. It's an attempt to bring in the new contracts who quite rightly won't join the CWU. Walsh couldn't care less about the senior members because he thinks we'll never leave the Union. This is going to result in even more of us leaving the Union. If you are a senior part time you're about to get s**t on. Get out of that Union.postslippete wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025, 08:15
Good point. They have pulled the revisions and re-pick so any part-timer who has only worked for the business for just a few years could potentially get full-time work over someone who has been part-time for years. Maybe some posties don't want to be full-time - but with a full revision and re-pick they would always get the first choice. Seniority has always been the logical and fair way of allocating duties in the business.
By putting the cart before the horse they could get a lot of issues in the future.

The fault lies with the CWU not anyone who started after the dispute. This is a recruitment exercise at the expense of seniority. The CWU have just s**t on the old hands and it's going to result in more leaving than joining. Get out of that tinpot Union.Acca Dacca wrote: ↑11 Jan 2025, 16:57You arent being shafted in this case.fadetogrey63 wrote: ↑11 Jan 2025, 16:51Thanks for the reply, so the newbies are still been shafted them.. Many ''old guard'' part timers have been working for Royal Mail for over a decade on a part time contract whilst RM bring in new entrants on contracts with more hours rather than make the part timer up to full time
yet you think you are hard done by because you might not get offered a full time contract after joining 6 months ago?!
If RM brought in a ''new new contract'' as of tomorrow that paid less than you get just now had to work 6 days a week would you think its only fair you get the same?
Because as sure as s**t stinks anyone that took that job on those terms would soon start calling you the selfish old guard too![]()

There's a sliding scale. Save yourself the money and leave.

Any idea what the increase in hours would be for new contracts?tramssirhc wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025, 13:08Yes you are.fadetogrey63 wrote: ↑11 Jan 2025, 15:02So I started in July on a 30 hour, am I included in this, and would it still be on my new contract terms
I guess it would depend on each DO?

Re: CWU: Agreement reached on the biggest ever National uplift in Part time contracted hours
As much as I hate your perspective I have to agree. Seniority is one of the last bastions of CWU membership and if that is taken away from the 20, 30 and 40 years plus members then they have failed tens of thousands of fee paying human beings on principle alone. CWU seems to have been compromised over the last decade beyond a reasonable doubt at this pointtramssirhc wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025, 13:05This is simply a recruitment exercise at the expense of seniority. Re: CWU: Agreement reached on the biggest ever National uplift in Part time contracted hours
It's all already decided and the Union is telling your rep whose getting made up. It should be on the basis of seniority, not hours worked. If there are full time jobs they go to the part timers in seniority order. Or they did until this sellout.Woody84 wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025, 13:15Any idea what the increase in hours would be for new contracts?tramssirhc wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025, 13:08Yes you are.fadetogrey63 wrote: ↑11 Jan 2025, 15:02So I started in July on a 30 hour, am I included in this, and would it still be on my new contract terms

Don't hate my perspective, get out of that Union and start organising yourselves. The working class doesn't need the CWU but the CWU needs us to keep bankrolling their lifestyles. Leaving was the best thing I've done. There's nothing the CWU does that you can't do for yourselves.Londonsburning wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025, 13:16As much as I hate your perspective I have to agree. What does seniority stand for these days, officially?
The main thing I can think of is VR?
When it comes to picking a duty, I don't really think that will matter much once the USO change happens, maybe at best get to choose a rough area to work in? Will be very interested to see how these trials work.

I still pay my dues because I deliver mail to the CWU headquarters here (admittedly about once a week) and the guys seem genuine but I realise the whole institution is finished, as is RMtramssirhc wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025, 13:22Don't hate my perspective, get out of that Union and start organising yourselves. You can still believe in collectivism and not be in a trade union. You can organise yourselves. You don't need the likes of Martin Walsh selling you out.Londonsburning wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025, 13:28I still pay my dues because I deliver mail to the CWU headquarters here (admittedly about once a week) and the guys seem genuine but I realise the whole institution is finished, as is RMtramssirhc wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025, 13:22Don't hate my perspective, get out of that Union and start organising yourselves. Apologies if someone has already mentioned this, but if they are making so many up to full time, surely this means bigger rounds? They are not going to give you an extra hour during the summer when there is no overtime without increasing your workload by at least that amount, it’s not a gift

If you have a revision and the rounds have somehow decreased in numbers then your DO is f****dThommo44 wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025, 13:37Apologies if someone has already mentioned this, but if they are making so many up to full time, surely this means bigger rounds?
