Extra scans for all packets (both Tracked and normal)

It is obvious that the whole point of these extra scans is to let the customer — who is actually the sender, aka the person/company directly paying RM paying to ship the package, rather than the recipient — have visibility and an audit trail of their consignments at all times. In the event of lost parcels, it also helps narrow down the search as to when/where it was last scanned. This will be a selling point when seeking to win new business.

Or perhaps a large number of parcels have started going missing between leaving the MC's and being scanned to core/ready for delivery at the DO's by individual posties, now that we no longer scan receipt of every parcel when it arrives at the DO?

And quite possibly this too.

Our Sunday manager insists on everything being scanned into the DO on Sundays — unlike weekdays — so she has full visibility on her data dashboard. It also helps pin the precise location of where parcels might have been “lost”, whether innocently or otherwise. A good idea imho.

From what I've heard, the packets will be scanned out to an actual sleeve/york so I'm guessing that at the Inward MC or the DO there'll be some sort of container scan which will flag any items scanned out to that york/sleeve as having arrived at the Inward MC or DO

Does this routinely happen with inbound work (ie work arriving into the DO for last-mile delivery)? A few weeks back our manager was able to identify from her computer screen in which of 45 Yorks of inbound work waiting to be sorted a particular parcel was supposed to be located. I was beginning to be impressed — until we searched through the York identified and it wasn’t in there after all!

Think it's just yorks that have come from the superhubs

Primary and secondary sorting setups will both scan all packets to a sleeve. No condensing of sleeves will be allowed, so be prepared for wave 2 to be a little heavier. At one time we'd scan trays of manual letters and flats out to DOs, I can see that returning. Long term I think RM will look into some kind of tech to allow it to have a breakdown of what manual letters and flats each walk has got.

Every last york has got a bluetooth tag on it so it can be detected when it enters any office. RM will be able to see if mail has not left a MC or has arrived at a DO and not been processed
