Re: 1000 redundancies
You'll still get DSA and 2C through as mech on a Saturday. 1C and 2C gets run together on wave 1. If it was all held till the Sunday night we''d probably end up just sending it as manual as the batches would be way too bigLouBarlow wrote: ↑04 Apr 2024, 18:01Going back to the plan and the graphic on page 1 - so no DSA on a Saturday? This is pretty much what they were after in their original pitch to change the USO then, as first class stamped letters are like hen’s teeth on a Saturday, so it will just be a parcel day really. I wonder if they made that clear in their proposal? Also what happens on rural deliveries? We are pretty much 50:50 here between town and rural.

Doesn’t that go against the new plan in the OP though?SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑04 Apr 2024, 19:31You'll still get DSA and 2C through as mech on a Saturday. 1C and 2C gets run together on wave 1. Absolute nightmare today. I had 165 tracked and 7 customer collects. Also 15 timed specials. How can I ever get loops done? Not even got time for the toilet. Flat out for the whole 4 and a half hours out there.

The alternative will be much later starts (on top of the current change in start times) in deliveries on Mondays as all the batches would need to be run twiceLouBarlow wrote: ↑04 Apr 2024, 19:33Doesn’t that go against the new plan in the OP though?SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑04 Apr 2024, 19:31You'll still get DSA and 2C through as mech on a Saturday. 1C and 2C gets run together on wave 1. Yeah I’m just wondering how the prep would be handled on a Saturday if everything comes through. If it all has to be put in the frame then it takes time. You aren’t getting out much earlier.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑04 Apr 2024, 19:49The alternative will be much later starts (on top of the current change in start times) in deliveries on Mondays as all the batches would need to be run twiceLouBarlow wrote: ↑04 Apr 2024, 19:33Doesn’t that go against the new plan in the OP though?SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑04 Apr 2024, 19:31You'll still get DSA and 2C through as mech on a Saturday. 1C and 2C gets run together on wave 1. I'd love to see how mail volumes vary from village to village, from town to town, and from city to city.....Seymour Buts wrote: ↑04 Apr 2024, 15:51it's impossible to argue the letters justify the current 6 day USO. I had 7 letters in a road on 80 houses Tuesday. It's an extreme example admittedly, as said road rarely gets much post, but the amount of letters now is declining at a huge rate.
From what I am seeing - mail is going up.
No chance will I ever get to deliver just 7 letters to a road with 80 houses.....unless a lorry breaks down bringing the mail to the office.
Saturdays and Tuesdays used to be pretty light....I rarely ever see a light mail day on any day of the week now.

Re: 1000 redundancies
There's no way anybody can deliver 30 per hour plus mail, I thought the expected quota for even a DPR was 20 per hour i.e. RON allows 3 mins per parcel excluding any additional travelling time between each drop.eastie wrote: ↑05 Apr 2024, 19:38isnt the tracked quota 30 per hour?Shirtbuttons wrote: ↑04 Apr 2024, 19:35Absolute nightmare today. Re: 1000 redundancies
Had the same discussion in the office today with a couple of guys. Since the turn of the year mail is through the roof & bulk postings are also very regular. I would say that I’m going to 70% of houses most days with mail unless there’s also a bulk posting which ups that figure further and it can vary from between one letter & half a dozen per house. Rather than deliver to 7 in 80 calls I’m lucky to miss 10. Nothing wrong in being so busy but
A: it needs to be recognised that not every part of the country is seeing a massive drop off in mail and the necessary adjustments made.
B: The rounds weren’t made for this amount of mail.
This “mails down” strap line is just a throwaway line that everyone seems to just say nowadays when the evidence in front of you shows the opposite. Christ even Dave & Martin continually mentioned “Mail has dropped off at such a rate…….” in their YouTube update the other day. It’s just lazy to keep repeating this line without backing it up with evidence other than RM’s bogus figures.

Re: 1000 redundancies
Letters are not going up though, are they? Not according to Royal Mail, the union, numerous people on here who process letters and common sense. Imagine the days prior to Email. The only way you could get a written document to anywhere was post; so CV's, credit card statements, mortgage documents, pay slips ect ect ect. None of which is applicable anymore.norris9 wrote: ↑05 Apr 2024, 20:03I'd love to see how mail volumes vary from village to village, from town to town, and from city to city.....Seymour Buts wrote: ↑04 Apr 2024, 15:51it's impossible to argue the letters justify the current 6 day USO. They cut the time from 3 minutes down to 2.5 minutes per drop.TopperGas wrote: ↑05 Apr 2024, 20:22There's no way anybody can deliver 30 per hour plus mail, I thought the expected quota for even a DPR was 20 per hour i.e. RON allows 3 mins per parcel excluding any additional travelling time between each drop.eastie wrote: ↑05 Apr 2024, 19:38isnt the tracked quota 30 per hour?Shirtbuttons wrote: ↑04 Apr 2024, 19:35Absolute nightmare today. Re: 1000 redundancies
Just look at the image at the top of the thread and tell me you think this company can actually manage to implement that plan. This is the kind of overthought nonsense that someone who has never managed an office, let alone done a duty, would come up with. It's the product of someone who does not understand their spreadsheet is not the real world. Presumably for lunch they eat a picture of a sandwhich. They might as well print this plan on Rubik's Cubes and distribute them to offices as a learning tool.
They broke you physically, now they break you mentally trying to figure out WTF duty you'll be doing.

The machine stops.
