The van shares don’t make sense in a parcels game unless you are delivering bulky items. Even if you had a couple of parcels across the road from each other one might get delivered in seconds the other might need stashing or trying 2 neighbours then a card written.

Bikes will be back next.

They're not practical anymore with the amount of parcels, if they came back where we used to have maybe 2 parcel/bulk/bag drivers you would need alot more because of the number of parcels and larger packets. And anyone thinking van shars will go are deluded, they'd need so many more vans and have to pay for the running of them. They are talking of taking vans out in our office and pairing up some of the few singleton rounds there are at the minute

I’m not sure to be honest. Given how much letters have dropped off you could definitely get a workable amount of parcels in pouch drops and still have manageable bike rounds. I’d love to trial it on my delivery.

Got asked to take all the ovesized parcels today due to lack of agency, I was fu***** fuming Ended up doing 2 loops of mail and bringing some back, absolute sh** show, nearly told him to stick the job there and then!

Exactly no cover for them a s**t show some are un helpful and no one tells them too take more but the walking postie has too cover them.No one helping the loops of letters left.

I feel embarrassed these days to be honest, 2 days mail in frame - lucky I suppose reading some posts on here where it's near a weeks worth stacking up, I am off to pastures new in the new year after 25 yrs service as I've had enough.

In my estimation, letters alone would probably only need a single bag refill on a heavy day. With our 4:30 span duties, I've found if you skim all the packets out the walks are still around 3:00-3:30 like they were under SDD. Packet delivery is massively time intensive compared to shoving a piece of paper through a slot.

Outside of my dream scenario, I can absolutely see a near-complete modern duty working by bike or LWT if the pouch boxes were the double height ones. The standard box size is quite restrictive. The bike would also have the advantage over the LWT of being your conveyance to and from the office.

DPRs, though, are dead. The operation does a handbrake turn again.
