What’s on people’s christmas lists? Unless you are being literal with that question. If so I stopped making lists about 40 years ago. I think my answer is valid to be honest, but sure, I’ll be the forum villain again. Its pantomime season after all.

I want a new rule to come in that customers have to have a letterbox that can fit A4 sized letters through and that are at least an inch and a half wide. Plus the letterbox has to be at least 3 feet from the ground.

Why in this day and age do we have to deliver to these low letterboxes or letterboxes that are from the 1920's and are far too small.

I am wasting so much time knocking on people's doors to hand them their xmas cards! or trying carefully to slightly bend their cards to get them through as long as the card is one of the smaller square ones.


Yeah - we should not leave xmas cards at people's doors, but these customers that have tiny letterboxes, but a porch away from the road - it should be fine to leave a card, no1 is going to steal an xmas card. Yet - some customers have phoned up and complained in the past for leaving a card in their porch! Not only do they have a tiny letterbox - they complain about me helping them out!

I think some of these people are just clueless and cannot work out it's a card and I cannot bend it, so it won't fit through their letterbox and they complain thinking I left it in the porch to be an a$$, when I've done it for them as a favour so they don't have to come and collect it.

Some of the new estates are ridiculous. We have a new one on ours that has boxes at decent heights, but they are so stiff you can’t get single items through without them folding or getting creased. We had a new door put on our house and I insisted to the missus that we had to get one at a decent height, but that isn’t as easy as you might think. It seems to be more common now for ground level boxes, which is a worrying trend.
