My guess is that them labels printed by SBS (or whatever it's called) will have a barcode added. redelivery for another day will be bookable up to a certain time, after that it'll go out for redelivery the next working day. After a set time in the morning the callers will scan each item as they put it out and it'll get flagged if there's a different redelivery booked.postslippete wrote: ↑25 Sep 2022, 21:04There is a slight flaw with the card. If you tick the 2nd option for the public to arrange a re-delivery how will the callers office know in advance as they will just assume everything that is coming back is due out for re-delivery the next day? So you might get the public ringing up the next day to arrange the re-delivery of the item even though the item isn't in the office - its already on delivery with the postie that day.

Re: Parcels not delivered:Automatic Redelivery
I think scanning of parcels "ready for delivery" will move to the duty.
You will then know if there are any inflight requests.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: Parcels not delivered:Automatic Redelivery
It's also better that way as then in theory only parcels and Tracked that have got a hope of being delivered that day would be scanned as ready for delivery. Saves getting the recipient's hopes up when in reality an item might not have a hope in hell of being delivered that dayclashcityrocker wrote: ↑26 Sep 2022, 05:59I think scanning of parcels "ready for delivery" will move to the duty.

Go out do all redeliveries and specials first and then start on that days work. What comes back comes back.

Re: Parcels not delivered:Automatic Redelivery
If this method does get introduced before xmas it will be utter chaos.
I used to leave parcels in safe places or leave it with a neighbour but if it doesn't state that on the pda I'll bring the parcel back to the office. Do everything by the book and if the parcels accumulate by the end of the week then so be it. The more parcels we have to try and get rid of the more time it's going to take.
If it's not broke why fix it but right now royal mail are putting the coal in the fire and letting us and the customers burn. All of this just so as they can save an extra few hours here and there.

Re: Parcels not delivered:Automatic Redelivery
Surely doing it "by the book" is leaving the parcels in the customers agreed safe place or with a neighbour regardless of what's suggested on the PDA? If you're going to be bringing every parcel back when the customers out/there's no inflight request then you're going to have a load more re-deliveries than most of the rest of us.Duesouth wrote: ↑26 Sep 2022, 21:14If this method does get introduced before xmas it will be utter chaos.

If the customer has requested on the in flight app that they want the postie to leave it in a safeplace or neighbour then I won't deny there request.TopperGas wrote: ↑26 Sep 2022, 21:18Surely doing it "by the book" is leaving the parcels in the customers agreed safe place or with a neighbour regardless of what's suggested on the PDA? It's the posties discretion whether they leave it with someone or somewhere within there property. The problem I have is if it goes missing then the customer has the upper hand and all the blame lies with you.
If it adds more time re-delivering parcels, and means I can't manage lapsing then so be it. We all have a starting time and finish time, I won't give them any extra.

Way of getting rid of staff for free. Encourage but not in so many words, us to feel pressured to get rid or else have to do it next day will lead to door stepping, leaving in dodgy places and so termination of jobs.

And CSP staff getting paid off, due to the callers office hours getting reduced even more when automatic redelivery comes in.

Re: Parcels not delivered
Thing is, I can do a rounds in a certain area that I don't know well, and get rid of pretty much everything. My own round however? Noone likes to answer the door, they'll come out sometimes if they realise who it is (so after I've knocked, waited, and written out a p739) but generally it takes a very long time even when people are in. I can bring back a sack of parcels every day. If we have to deliver them the next day on top of that days parcels? Just to bring half of those back too? For some duties, it won't make much of a difference, but others it will definitely screw over.Seymour Buts wrote: ↑21 Sep 2022, 21:13It'll just lead to more door stepping. Im not overly fussed, as i rarely card anything on mine now anyway but the reserves will be shafted again as they won't know safe places and will be stuck carting the same parcels round for days.

That’s me & my partner f**ked then, if they not in it goes back, no neighbours, no safe place, teach them a lesson, used to regularly bring back 60/70 parcels, must have put a lot off ordering its now down to 30 odd.
