Same here. While ever we don’t have to provide our own vans (you know, like our gig economy competitors) I couldn’t care less.

I love this. No new uniforms because we have been naughty boys and girls. Nothing to do with those uniforms proving not to be up to the wear and tear of the job. The same with the electric vans. Those ordered by RM have too small a range particularly as electric usage gets much higher over the winter.

Its OK Simon. We will pretend that your poor management decisions are the fault of us posties - just so you can claim that you have done a fantastic job again and award yourself another big bonus next year.

Rm will be claiming company tax relief on uniform
If they ain’t supplying them they should be done for tax fraud
Also every person who has to wear own gear can ask Taxman for tax allowance on all their items
Nb this is separate from cleaning allowance

RM vans are a disgrace and an embarrassment to the company. Some of the fleet are 10 years old or older with filthy torn interiors, mouldy bodywork with numerous scratches and dents. This really isn’t a good advert driving around in pale red or pink faded vans chucking lots of visible smoke out. The interiors have never seen a wipe or vacuum cleaner and the exteriors have never seen a bucket of water. Why can’t we have someone on a regular basis valet these vans? I think our uniforms and our vans look a mess, but I wonder now if any of us care anymore.

I believe at one time, in the dim distant past, we used to actually have time allocated (and paid) to clean the vehicles!

It was just another allowance signed away during the watering down of our T&Cs.

After that I think everyone just thought, "Well Sod You then, I'm not going to be cleaning the van anymore" New Starters just fell into the habit. The only people that REALLY give their van a thorough cleaning, inside & out, are a couple with OCD and a few time wasters that like to really take the piss and drag out their time.

When I started they had a drive through van wash machine at the main mail centre that we had to go through once a week.

Yes we did was 20 minutes on a Tuesday up here, the days before lapsing.

TEAM: Just ordered me a nice new pair of shorts (£13) to maintain the professional look as the work ones are disintegrating in the gusset.
