It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Postman has posted links to the Royal Mail ones but I have also found a resource for non Royal Mail greviance letters which may help members when going through the process.

It does have a generic letter as well. http://www.formalgrievance.com/page13.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Looking at it from an organisational point of view, it would appear that Royal Mail has a bullying culture from top to bottom.

The B & H I take for granted from our incompetent doms. What really gets to me is the grief I get on van shares from the speed freeks. If they really want to be home by mid-day I suggest they go p/t or get another job. It's no good getting on my case and stressing me out more than I aleady was. It's these nobs that have ruined our job and left us with ridiculous workloads. I've always been reluctant to cut off but I've little choice now.

People pressured/expected to go in early to throw off walks so they can complete- unpaid, some tossers do it without pressure,
People going well over and not booking the O.T'
Swings and Roundabouts, you're under Tuesday or you'll be under Tuesday so you can't book Monday, even seen manager tell people to book any O.T they may have from a Mon/Tue to book it all Wednesday as it must get him off the hook with Area Manager, don't help the office one bit though.
People pressured in to O.T they don't want, etc
It goes on and on and in the Health + Safety line to, Royal Mail are hot on it when it helps them but overlook plenty if it will hinder..
Union and H&S go missing.

Problem is really that we all don't stand together and face this down, too many will do anything, too many will be pressured, it's as much our fault.

Bob Gibson, CWU national officer
"I'm growing increasingly concerned by reports that have been received which contain accounts of managers attempting to force increasing workloads onto our members, and then accusing them of poor performance," he said.

"Some of what I've been hearing from several areas around the country seems quite sinister in its application and can only be described as bullying, harassment and downright intimidation.

"This is a situation we cannot allow to continue," added Bob

Who knows but if no-one comes forward they certainly won't do anything and it will be at least partly our own fault.
They have given us a platform to tell them what it really is like in delivery offices.
It would be criminal not to use it.

Oh so TRUE Fishtank, well said.
It's normal daily procedure in our office now for some one to suffer the wrath of the bully in a suit.
Where are the ODI's? Are they hiding in a dark room with a bag on their head somewhere. They were always around when I joined trying to catch you gong home early.
NOT A CAT IN HELLS CHANCE OF THAT THESE DAYS.

I joined this job because it meant that I could get my kids from school (when they arrived) as we finished at 13:07.
Now I have to find someone to collect them from school and mind them for me. I've even heard of posties PAYING another postie to finish their walk for them so they can get the kids, PAYING child minders etc.
ALL BECAUSE THIS SO CALLED FAMILY FRIENDLY EMPLOYER IS NOT SO FAMILY FRIENDLY AFTER ALL!
The truth is, THEY HAVE BEEN FOUND OUT, WELL AND TRULY!

Not only are revisions a total cock up and they are not working but they can not possibly be saving Royal Mail any money.
I'm part time yet last week I worked 41.5 hours on my own walk, just to avoid the wrath of the bosses.
This is early grave stuff now,

Make now mistake, THE WAY THAT THIS JOB IS NOW, IT IS GOING TO KILL SOMEONE!
I'M NOT THE ONLY WITH HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE, but you can really begin to feel the strain felt by so many in delivery offices now.
Watch the 'sick' go through the roof. It's only the prospect of Christmas Tips thats keeping the rest of us actually IN WORK!

I presume your contracted hours still finish at 13.07.
If you decide to work o/t then that is your decision, no-one elses.
If you need to finish at 13.07 for your kids, then finish at 13.07.
Don't start talking bollocks about the "wrath of your boss".
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

For one, what I said IS NOT BOLLOCKS as you put it.
I've heard this crap from from reps time and time again. I also hear this crap from those same people who say that its your decision to work over but then shy away from the fact that they themselves ,
'COME IN EARLY, DON'T TAKE THEIR BREAKS AND STILL WANT TO USE THEIR OWN CAR!'
Smacks of hypocracy to me.

And two, I have personally witnessed lads being bullied into working over their time under threats of 'poor performance' etc, having more than one boss standing over them when the rep had gone out, and having them come up to me saying that because they are 'short term contract' etc., they don't want to 'rock the boat' or argue for fear of having their contracts not renewed, etc.

Yes, I feel intimidated myself but have been in this job long enough to know how it works. Stand your ground with some bosses and your card is marked.
I'll never forget what I was told on my first day in the job by the lad who trained me,
"You spend months trying to get into this job and now that you are in, THEY (bosses) will spend months and months trying to find ways of getting you out of this job, especially if your face doesn't fit or you don't do what they tell you or you stand up to them, thats why we have a union to back us ALL up."
That was 1989, its a pity that the 'UNITY IS STRENGTH' SENARIO OF THE UNION'S negotiating power with management no longer exists in the way it did.
This bullying in DO's is happening across the country because of several things,
It comes from the top down,
The NEC of the CWU hasn't the stomach for fighting these so called 'modernisation plans'
Some local reps are unsure of what to do,
The membership is divided and weakening by the month, apathy is common place.
And their are career hungry ladder climbing managers who will use and abuse anything and anyone to progress their own career prospects by trying to be tough thinking that it will impress their own boss.
I've seen these guys come and go. There is the odd one who is genuine, but they are hard to find.
The only reason that the bullying and harassment is so much of an issue in delivery now is because
'WE , who are the UNION have let it happen!'
I can have my moan because I voted 'NO!!!!!'.
How many others out there who voted 'YES' are now wishing that they had listened to those with experience both from the shop floor and behind the closed doors of the DOM's office.
Make no mistake, if you wear a uniform, some of them think that you are something on the end of their shoe. I've heard them say it... and mean it. Utter contempt! Nothing has changed much.
It's a culture that needs to be stamped out.
May be the CWU needs to have the same level of organisation as Nick Parks 'Chicken Run'.
At least, 'They were organised!'.
