Surely this will just encourage more people to go on the sick?

Re: POAL is Available Now
Do you work the same hours every day and every week?
If not, that's your answer as to why you probably aren't eligible.
If you do work the same hours every day and every week then you are probably not eligible because the methodology has to account for those who don't (and that you might not in the future).

Re: POAL is Available Now
10yrs 4 months, 3 day float
App told me I do not qualify for POAL even though I've had the max amount for last 9 years..
So clicked on link and downloaded form for POAL/ALU..
gave to manager...
He just tried to input my ALU application
HR have told him you can't apply for ALU until April 1st?
He just messaged me..
"Hi *****, where did you get the above form?
I have just contacted HR and they said you can’t apply for unpaid leave until 1st April..."
So is the window ONLY for POAL applications?
But ALU only after April 1st?
You can download the form now but can't apply for ALU until April 1st?
BTW the form tells the manager, that its recommended only Allowing 2 days off per pay period (legacy contracts 2 days a week I guess), new contracts 2 days per month? Lol
The word 'recommend' isn't a definite, so does the manager decide 2 days or more?
So you can't book stuff in advance, can't go on holiday as the manager might only let you take 2 midweek days off, or he will probs just say the usual 'can't cover it' s**t..
What a mess...
Everyday is a kick in the teeth working for this vile company
Where the F*ck is the Union?

Re: POAL is Available Now
I've just had a read through the ALU stuff, that application form and the FAQ's on mybundle and it looks like the way it will work is it's a local agreement between yourself and your manager, it looks like HR don't get involved, apparently it doesn't show on your leave sheet so that's where the application form comes in as yours and the managers record/proof of it so you would be able to book holidays for the dates you requested.sardonicus wrote: ↑10 Feb 2026, 12:4210yrs 4 months, 3 day float

f**k knows why you can't apply until 1st April though that's seems to make no sense
(What could possibly go wrong when covering duties if they're using 2 holiday lists rather than just 1 I bet whoever does the staffing won't know when someone is off on unpaid)

Re: POAL is Available Now
Wouldn’t it be easier if they just came out and told us what the criteria is and how they came to the calculations?
I thought the whole idea with’my bundle’ was to help people purchase items they could not afford to buy outright?

Re: POAL is Available Now
Following on fron my earlier post today, just spoke to HR...
Info below supplied by HR
So window for POAL qualifiers is open now..
If you don't qualify for poal, you will qualify for alu, of which there is no window
You have to wait till 1st April to put in any dates you want to take alu although it's an ongoing thing so you can apply at any time after April 1st as you wish but assume it will get harder to get days off the longer you wait as spaces I assume will become less..
There is no restriction on how many days you take at a time, the only cap is a top up to max 6 weeks a/l on total, paid and unpaid.
The 2 day recommendation is just that - to limit your exposure to a drop in wages, however you can request a week and have a week..
This needs to be done by either downloading the request form filling it out, and giving it to manager to input into psp, (keeping a copy or photo etc) or go on psp with manager and Input it with him
There is no guarantee we will get the dates you want..
Above info supplied to me by HR
HR will not discuss individual calculations on poal or alu, full stop..
Of course we all know it's all a load of old bollox, another attack on the workers by RM...I wonder on how many occasions the managers will say they can't cover our requested alu days and just keep rejecting them..

Re: POAL is Available Now
Is there an actual link that takes you straight to the portal where you apply for ALU?
As usual with all of Royal Mail's shitty apps its cloaked in mystery and the cryptic questions on 321 were easier to decipher than this

Re: POAL is Available Now
HR keep telling me that “they have to consider what could change through the year and apply a margin to cover it” does anyone at all know what this change is ?
It’s all abundantly clear now that those of us that have to work the hardest ( delivery staff ) have now been shafted yet again.
The alu thing is a total non-starter btw , can be denied , doesn’t go on the leave sheet and is subject to resourcing and operational needs or in other words , no chance.
Managers have just been given a tool to further bully and balckmail staff and our union are silent.
The saying the last straw is how I feel about it , it’s not necessarily the worst thing Royal Mail have done and the union not defended but me and everyone in my unit it’s the straw that breaks the camels back.
As much as I like my local reps the union not being able to defend coming as simple as this means they’re no use anymore.

Re: POAL is Available Now
They've basically scrapped POAL haven't they?
And come up with some utter bull about minimum wage to sneak it in. And the CWU have just swallowed it hook, line and sinker.
One of the very few perks left, gone. What a f****** disgrace.

How is it utter bull?
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: POAL is Available Now
They claimed, and the Union repeated, that the issue was primarily likely to affect new contracts.
They claimed, and the Union repeated, that the suspension was precautionary.
They claimed, and the Union repeated, that a workaround solution would be found.
All of this was bull****, because what has actually happened is the abolition of POAL for OPGs.

Re: POAL is Available Now
Why is POAL treated differently from AVC's, as they both have the ability to make it appear you are working under minimum wage?
