I started in 2021, and got to watch a video in which Terry Pullinger urged me to join the CWU and claimed they were working on getting it so new starts would be on the same as legacy within a year.

4 years later and we are still hearing the CWU are "working on it."
New contracts weren't introduced until around Oct 2022.
At the time the issue was that the contracts had been reworded every 6-12 months since privatisation, with the obligatory Sundays being the bone of contention at the time. Your point about "new" contracts is valid but there are still an alarming amount of people from 2013 onwards who are on vastly different contracts to one another

I can see the contracted hours being different but what other ways are the contracts different?

There are lots of variations to the later legacy contracts. We have a PT postman on a legacy contract who joined in 2021 whose only days of work are Friday, Saturday and Sunday. He is the only postie in our office on that contract. He doesn’t get the Sunday premium payment that other legacy-contract staff get for working Sunday, but he does get his delivery supplement, paid breaks, weekly pay, etc.

If you watch the pensions video from Thursday they start by saying they will be getting a detailed update on the section 5 stuff out in the next couple of days…..there couple of days seem to be different to most peoples as it is now Tuesday and complete silence.
