How have you got leave left if you book 6 whole weeks.

But hes saying they have to book whole weeks never heard of having to book 6 weeks leave.unless del work differently to mcs when it comes to leave.no surprise really if it is.

Might be due to shift working in MCs, you have 3 and 4 day full time duties which overlap into other shifts. Them duties have various days off and there are more duties which must be covered, such as mech duties. Apart from callers and the locker, are there any other duties which the office must always have covered?

I doubt that any 2 MCs work the same or any 2 DOs work the same.

We have to book all leave in full weeks and then when all leave has been allocated you go back and cancel the days you don't want.

Ridiculous system because you block others from taking a week off due to you wanting a Friday/Saturday off

We used to get a preference form but so many people took so long to hand it back (often into The New Year) that it got scrapped and we now get allocated first 4 for us and we need to swap about.

Well your office needs to get your manager to manage, set a deadline and if you don't hand it in on time you get what's left.

These things always start out with those type of intentions, but quickly fall apart.

Years ago, it really was a 'free for all', and often seniority ruled when it came to picking holidays - I know this is still the case in some offices. We then had a period where you got to submit 1st to 4th preference choices, but many staff dragged their heels over this as they had lost their perceived priority over everyone else. Management threatened to bring in a deadline but were browbeaten into not doing so. Local/area CWU not interested, as they know they'll get what they want.
We now get our 4 weeks allocated, we need to swap them between us, and those that get 5 or even 6 weeks get to then fill in the blank slots.
So that's where we are now, and the irony is that people that caused the issues see absolutely no problem in the way they have behaved, and a management that is too weak to do the right thing.

Certainly is that's utter shite, we operate a seniority based system, it alternates top downwards for 1st pick one year then goes back up for next pick then down again and so on, the following year it starts from the bottom upwards, it generally works quite well, obviously if you're in the middle you never get 1st choice but then again you're never last either.

No one is 'up' for being treated like this, and believe me, efforts have been made to rectify it.
