Happening next week in my office apparently at the moment we have d2ds for each day labelled Monday to Saturday and a column at the end my partner clears his every day well I take houses that get mail, so with vertical prep am I right that the Monday column for example will have a full day's d2ds for that day as we are prepping downwards, well it won't effect me that much it could potentially with double slots have him going to well over 100 delivery points on a certain day or have I got it wrong?
It's no big deal, it really isnt
It really is. In my 21 years in the business, it is the worst change Royal Mail have made indoors operationally by an absolute mile!
Totally agree !! Frame like most , flowed easily horizontly , now its just a mess . Little bits of streets everywhere , longer to box in, even tying up takes longer. Just nuts this has been forced upon us and just before christmas pressure !! USO has no chance with this.
No it isn't a big deal, when we went from pigeon boxes to the the rm2000 fitting everyone in our DO thought it mad but we soon got used to it, I've got used to these new fittings after a week or two, having said that I really don't see an advantage
Eh? When was the last time you prepped a walk before a RM2000 frame?? :left:

It's only stressful if you make it that way, if the business wants to change the way we've prepped frames for years they've just got to accept we're going to be slower.

It's no real difference to being suddenly told 1c mail is now also a priority, its something else which will take us longer when we just delivering Tracked packets on a duty.
You are making assumptions everyone is able to deal with that mentally. Some are natural worriers, suffer from anxiety etc. And this continued s**t show, added to by this vertical prep nonsense will be affecting their lives in a significant way.
My frame was changed about a month ago & I still can’t get used to it! Gonna give it another week or so & revert it back I think…

Would love to do that too. It just dsnnt make any sense to make your frame harder to box into esp with pressure period on way. Its all nuts

A company run by brainless idiots....

We are all about efficiency! Pulled in for yellow dots and they come up with an idea that basically erases all knowledge and skill.

They just have well have said you must prep your walks whilst doing a headstand 🤬

No column is a single loop so makes where you put the packets no different and for anyone not familiar with the frame in most cases once you found the road it was very easy to then locate the number you were looking for... Not anymore 🙈

I don't see vertical prep being a problem on the face of it.... but I don't see the point in it either.

I am interested to see how I feel when my frame is changed to V prep.

It's not a problem as such just that if you pull out post for say "24 Rose Ave" you just know it's to your right hand side, two columns down near the end, now for a week or so you have to think about where it is on the frame. You also have to out more thought into tieing up.

They are going to have to make massively large RM2000 frames at ours if they want 1 column to closely resemble 1 loop, and that's with us already having been double slotted for over 10 years. Many of our frames currently can't even sort the small parcels into the allocated space above the frame and have to make do with bags hanging from the sides of frames.
RM2000 frames aren't built for the decline in letters meeting the rise in parcels, and simply re-arranging the frames to go vertical shows how out of touch planners etc are.

RM's end game is probably to have it so that anyone can do any walk at anytime, even if they've never done that walk before. Doubt it'd work for rural walks where you'd have to know where all the hidden lanes are, hidey holes for mail, etc are located.

It's ridiculous that it hasn't been all or nothing. New starts have to ask if the frame is horizontal or vertical now.

The benefits of RM2000 were very clear. If vertical prep possessed the mysterious tremendous benefits it is alleged to have then I would imagine it would have been identified and introduced in the mid-90s as part of the RM2000 spec.

As an historical aside, the benefits of 'preparation fittings' were so obvious that RM was trying to consign the box frames to history as early as 1988.

Someone somewhere got a hurty wrist prepping horizontally along the top row.

So now every single frame has to be changed to vertical. I now pull my seat out and push it back in 9 times to do all the bottom sections of each column.

Doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Five or six changed their frames back within minutes and most within a couple of days.
There are a just a few left as vertical.
Our managers seem fine about it, it gets us out on time.
