Going by the rota on the other thread Monday to Friday will be 8.28hrs with 7hrs for Saturday for a 9 day fortnight, seems like a long day to me.

Am I right in thinking the whole office has to change to whatever rota is voted in or is this for the pilot offices?

Majority of people in our office are on the Waddington system and I guess would vote to stay on that, the rest day people won't be impressed if they are forced to change to a Waddington

Our revision comes in, in a few weeks. We’re being moved to 4.5 hour delivery spans. God knows how we’ll do when the new delivery model comes in. 5.5, 6, 6.5 hours? What happens to the 6 hour per day part timers? Little twiddling on the computer perhaps, don’t worry, this 6 .5 hour delivery is exactly the same as it was, but the computer now says it takes 4.5 hours. Why do you keep cutting off? Conduct code for you.
4.5 hour spans sounds good! :chuckle
Add in 30+ minutes later starts as well. It’s going to be wonderful

Do you mean wallington?
How do shift patterns work at your DO with reserves and P/T? Looks complicated.

We always called it Wallington but was told years back it is actually Waddington, who knows or cares :confused

Block of 6 people, 5 hold walks with one rest week cover. not many PT staff with this system but they get part of their walk prepped before they come in.

Seems simple to me

I've no idea how the Saturday shift rotations are supposed to work unless you have practically every member of staff driving.

We've been told it will be something like Driver, Driver, Non Driver, covering duties A B C D.

Doesn't look like any Saturdays off for anyone?

Martin Walsh claims they'll be used as "van assistants" on Saturday's!!

Like I said. No one gets Saturday off then. Van assistant needs a van driver, surely?

Just make it simple - go to a 4 day week for all mail. None of this - 'we'll deliver 2nd class every other day so our posties die of fatigue because they will have too much mail and we'll juggle 3 posties between 4 duties, but if one postie is ill and we have no cover then it becomes a total p00p show'.

Think that would require a change of the law, whilst the current plan won't

That would be anything but simple as it would require parliament to agree to a change in the USO.
How many years would that take?

Makes you laugh doesn’t it!! This used to be an extremely efficient slick operation from the minute an item was posted until it was delivered. Yet we’re paying jumped up Uni twots with all the technology they need at their fingertips to turn it into chaotic s**t. Just proves that spreadsheets & real life don’t work. This is one of the reasons why the whole country is in such a s**t state - an over reliance on technology, spreadsheets & data instead of real life, experience & knowledge.

It's Wallingtons because Wallington DO started the rotation, same as Herefords is because Hereford DO started that rotation.

When did Martin Walsh say that? Had he written it down anywhere?
