It’s beyond me why you would want to be rude with someone sharing a duty, it makes for an uncomfortable day from the very start, yet there are plenty who think nothing of it. Park and loop van sharing, the worst idea ever.silverspring wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025, 17:25Unfortunately there are lots of abusive morons working as posties. Upon questioning, the response was that I was very lucky to even have 2 days of training as he got none when he started all those years ago. The final answer was to just get on with it. Yeah ok then, I'll just bundle up anything and place in random bags then, but be warned that some of what I'm doing is some of YOUR loops so don't complain once you start your walk and realise the disorganised mess.
The company should be training new starters on walks shared by people who actually want to teach and train others and not be those who clearly have no communication skills, an inability to train, and who are passive aggressive.

Apart from the "ass covering" stuff like manual handling, yard and fire safety, mail security, etc training hasn't really existed in either MCs or DOs for many years. It's here's the work area, here's the work, get on with itsilverspring wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025, 17:25Unfortunately there are lots of abusive morons working as posties. Some of this 'ass covering' stuff does not occur either. It was five years before I had any MHT. My 'New Starter' H&S Training Portfolio paperwork is still as blank and not signed off by a manager as the day I walked in the door.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025, 20:49

Yup, still asking 3 months in what I should do when "x" happens or "x" appears on the PDA. Standard answer is we don't know we don't use the PDAs as they are stood there scanning their own parcels. It's starting to feel deliberate yet the LM says "oh they're a good bunch them lot, they probably don't realise they are doing it!"silverspring wrote: ↑12 Jan 2025, 17:25Unfortunately there are lots of abusive morons working as posties. If they are starting 2 hours early and not being paid RM may need to double check that they haven't gone under minimum wage average or there'll be even more trouble than they are already in.postslippete wrote: ↑11 Jan 2025, 17:46The biggest rule that some posties like breaking is starting 2 hours early UNPAID. Some of them have got all their D2Ds neatly prepped in their frames and are constantly backwards and forwards clearing their own packets while others are piled high on Yorks. Honestly, if I were the boss I would be looking to give them extra work to do if they are that keen to come in and work for FREE!!![]()

I can't imagine any RM manager raising that as an issue. Well reading through the forum, listening to CWU stuff and being an employee I see a lot that could come back to bite them in the form of fines or financial compensation to workers. It is actually illegal to pay less than minimum wage so those employees could report them and if they've clocked in and out they have the evidence. If they haven't clocked in then they might not be insured on premises. All sorts of issues with that scenario.yellowbelly wrote: ↑07 Feb 2025, 08:40I can't imagine any RM manager raising that as an issue. Nobody other than the planners and COMs expectations of it, implementing revisions that are 1.30+ hours too long to be achievable, and here we have the crux of the problem in many DOs across the country.yellowbelly wrote: ↑07 Feb 2025, 10:34Who is ordering them to come in and work for free?Newandscared wrote: ↑07 Feb 2025, 09:05Well reading through the forum, listening to CWU stuff and being an employee I see a lot that could come back to bite them in the form of fines or financial compensation to workers. If employees come in to work early off their own back UNPAID because they feel pressured then that is their choice and the employer has no obligation to pay them as it goes by their contractual hours of work. The Union have been telling them for years to start at the official time unless agreed otherwise. Staff should really let managers make the decisions regarding unachievable workloads rather than making the decision themselves.
As for accidents at work that's completely different but I would always clock in the moment you arrive in the delivery office regardless.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

Re: Breaking every rule going and then some
I think this is what people all over the forum are pointing out, the managers aren't managing, they are forcing people into working longer to meet unachievable targets, not allowing us to put delivery not attempted, implying that it's a bad option for you to not work overtime to meet the delivery targets. Some of the younger people might not speak up becuase we all need the jobs and the money at the moment and for many of us any money coming in is better than none. We are stuck between a rock and a hard place unless the union start listening to us properly.postslippete wrote: ↑09 Feb 2025, 08:33Newandscared wrote: ↑07 Feb 2025, 09:05

They aren’t being asked to come in early and give free hours. If the walks are too long they need to cut off and bang the drum. We’ve got a pair who come in an hour early, get all their loops done with over an hour to spare and then kill time outdoors. Makes no sense.

Pretty sure there's subtle pressure on slower workers to put in extra hours in order to complete, if not why would anybody work for free?kazardaimenu wrote: ↑09 Feb 2025, 09:45They aren’t being asked to come in early and give free hours. The managers will put the pressure on but you generally know what’s doable and what’s ridiculous. If you’re not slow but need an extra hour to complete then the workload is too much.

Re: Breaking every rule going and then some
Only needs a random manager from outside the office to do an audit of the PDA data and then they're in trouble. RM must do random audits of PDA data from time to time to check for anyone killing time outdoorskazardaimenu wrote: ↑09 Feb 2025, 09:45They aren’t being asked to come in early and give free hours.
