I have to conclude after the last few years that WTLL has been scrapped as national policy. As with plenty from both RM and the CWU, I only know about it because I previously read it here.

In MCs WTLL stopped at the start of Covid and never resumed.

Take last Fridays WTL which lasted 22 minutes. We had a video on ‘My Performance’ which explained everything in minute detail, just no need.

I was on the way back to the DO and reached a red light. I don’t know if it was fatigue, fatigue or fatigue but I forgot to switch my engine off. I destroyed the entire county. One mistake, just like that, gone. I had to make a difficult call to my rogue manager, obviously he was pleased I’d cleared the tracked but the reality of my idling hit home the next day when there was nothing to deliver to.’

(Obviously I’m exaggerating and being silly but it’s infuriating to watch and believe people are paid to come up with this. No allowances are made, nothing is removed from your delivery, you’re just expected to absorb WTL and book OT)

For the record I can't remember the last time we had a real WTL session (think it was several months ago). Don't know why RM bother wasting all this money doing videos like this but it keeps people employed in what I call "non-jobs"

Managers were practically begging us to come in and do Sunday to "deliver mother's day." From Thursday to Saturday we got council "changes to your refuse collection schedule" letters for every house, water company "to the occupier" letters to every house and energy company "to the occupier" letters to every house alongside the named versions of (presumably) the same letter... Nobody wanted to do any more after that

Thursday the DTS system was switched off nationally so any mail held by the DTS system was automatically released Thursday night. Locally what I believe was council tax letters come through for a couple of DOs Friday night, one of them DOs is covered by DTS, most of them letters got held by the DTS, with there now being about a yorks worth of DTS for each of them batches.

Nobody here understands your Mail Centre jargon pal.

While it'd be nice for the acronyms to be broken down a bit more often, it's not too hard to gather that the "DTS" system manages machine sortable mail and tries to link lower priority bulk mailings (Council tax and the like) visits with addresses that have 1st class mail on each day until a given time limit, to spread the load across several days with some logic on when to give an address a given bulk mailing item, primarily to houses you already have to visit...

Basically computerised "warm calling" with your junk mail, just, with real letters instead. If it's off, you get the lot, if it's on, you should generally only get the bulk letters to houses you already need to visit that day.

What does DTS stand for then? Don't forget you are posting in the 'Blueshirts' forum, which as far as I'm aware is about Deliveries

The logical conclusion somewhere down the line will be all letters held back until the address gets a Tracked item (goodbye RM2000 frames). De jure held back in the MC, that is. It's de facto operation in DOs.
