Re: Start Times
All that will show on the PDA/SISO data is that you've finished 24mins earlycomeracing wrote: ↑17 Dec 2023, 16:05We are keeping to starting 24 mins early, but told to knock off 24 minutes off your finish time
If you want to come in book the 24mins as overtime then it's all above board

Re: Start Times
His point is the reason there is an incentive 'bonus' in the first place is because senior management know they have made the duties too big to be completed within regular pressure hours and so there had to be a carrot to entice people to clearLouBarlow wrote: ↑15 Dec 2023, 17:33I’m not sure why they are mutually exclusive. You can have less calls and the bonus. If anything, having achievable deliveries will allow you to hit the figure needed for said £250.postslippete wrote: ↑15 Dec 2023, 17:29LouBarlow wrote: ↑15 Dec 2023, 13:11
It has nothing to do with office size either. We have over 100 duties. Some offices are just better run and managed than others. I’ve said it before. Why RM don’t look to the better performing offices (we are top 10 in the country) and apply their methods in general is beyond me.
Because your office is one of the few that hasn't been stripped and taken apart yet. Our office used to be one of the best performing offices in the region but senior managers took out far too many duties in the revision. We are now one of the worse performing offices in the region.
Who is to blame....staff or senior management??![]()
I'm not greedy and would rather have 300 less calls on my frame than a quick buck of £250 which will barely cover a big Xmas food shop and a night on the tiles.
He would rather his office had manageable duties than unmanageable duties which need carrots dangled in front of him and his colleagues to complete every day
If the duties werent too big and were manageable, then there wouldnt be a need for the £250 incentive
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

In the past 25 years I cannot recall a Christmas when the duties were manageable within your contracted hours.Acca Dacca wrote: ↑17 Dec 2023, 18:50

If they were, you would be using December as your model week.
I can't think of anything more stupid.

If you worked 25 years ago you would probably find that they actually were.

That's wierd, because a number of us the other day were reminiscing about being able to do exactly that before P&L.clashcityrocker wrote: ↑17 Dec 2023, 18:58In the past 25 years I cannot recall a Christmas when the duties were manageable within your contracted hours.
Like the escalation of lapsing from reasonable to deranged, they couldn't stand the notion there was any juice left in the fruit so they decided to squeeze it all by annihilating it with a sledgehammer. The juice went everywhere except in the cup.postslippete wrote: ↑15 Dec 2023, 17:29Our office used to be one of the best performing offices in the region but senior managers took out far too many duties in the revision. You could live in the DO.
Maybe you nodded off and didn't notice.

Sure they did. I often used to complete two rounds back in the day and still managed to get finished before my time. That's how good it was. Hardly anybody needed to use the "overrunning procedure"

I said regular pressure hours with the regular OT that was put in every year before the revisions
Most people worked a bit of OT during the pressure and a plan was always in place including making up PTers to FT
But doing that but of OT was still a manageable day - not 6 hours plus outdoors like you’d have to be out now to get it all done for most people
If you tolerate this, then your paid break will be next

Re: Start Times
I’ve only been in the job just over 20 years now, so it might well have been the case during the time period you mention, but I’ve never done a Christmas without some OT. But that was taking literally everything, not handing off parcels to cover duties or parcel runs and then *still* needing OT to finish.Acca Dacca wrote: ↑18 Dec 2023, 12:31Never said contracts hoursclashcityrocker wrote: ↑17 Dec 2023, 18:58In the past 25 years I cannot recall a Christmas when the duties were manageable within your contracted hours.Acca Dacca wrote: ↑17 Dec 2023, 18:50

The major difference was, you had the rough with the smooth back then. People had easy summers and so were willing to go the extra mile during the busier periods. It is clear that a ton of offices have unmanageable rounds even during model weeks, so I don’t blame anyone throwing their hands up in defeat, especially at this time of the year, as you have no chance to start with.
As soon as privatisation came about, it needed to be drilled into people that we were all going to be shafted. It blows my mind how easily we all rolled over when it was mooted. Of course a for profit business is going to demand workers work every second they are being paid. Thinking we would still be going home hours early, was a pipe dream really.

Re: Start Times
Before P&L you had packet drivers for a start, also you could only deliver what would fit in the pouch boxes.
The duties were waaay shorter and had far less packets too.
20 years in the job you say?

Yes packet drivers who also did the pouch runs. You didn’t need to use every pouch drop though back in the day, and I managed to get all of my packets for the entire round in my bike panniers. That’s the difference. I rarely, if ever, needed to put parcels in pouches.

What exactly are you 'trying to prove' with folk on this thread then?LouBarlow wrote: ↑18 Dec 2023, 17:49Yes packet drivers who also did the pouch runs. Trying to prove nothing. Merely agreeing with the comment that even when the job was piss easy, you couldn’t complete at Christmas without OT. You would also get out a lot later having to manually prep instead of having trays walk sorted. Back when people were still sending cards by the dozens and stamps were affordable for ordinary folks.mwalker88 wrote: ↑18 Dec 2023, 17:56What exactly are you 'trying to prove' with folk on this thread then?LouBarlow wrote: ↑18 Dec 2023, 17:49Yes packet drivers who also did the pouch runs. How many years did you do out of interest before quitting/being fired/retiring? What were you trying to prove with your comment questioning my duration of service? Honestly, why do you even care to get in arguments with people on a forum dedicated to a job you don’t even do any more? Move on. It’s not healthy.
