This is a pain for those customers who we know are happy for us to post signed Tracked when they are out as we now need them to be in in order to open their doors!
If you had been doing your job properly and not signing for "customers", then the new way of working wouldn't have made any difference.
Nobody pays to have the postie sign for items. That isn't a service we offer (yet?)
If people don't want to sign for things then they simply have to ask the sender to use a different product. If the sender doesn't want to do that it is because they want a signature on delivery and not yours.

Do you forge signatures or use DWS?
This is perhaps why the new product has been introduced.

I think that the big senders must be getting fed up with DWS being used so often. How many delivery staff now DWS everything where they wouldn't have pre-Covid?

Do they really check customers signatures, If so, then why haven't we already been told to inform customers they can't just put a squiggly line or their initials but must use their proper signature. If we're now taking photos of us posting SD's though open doors how can they issue DOR's anyway.

In my experience, issues only arise when the customer (who we deliver it to) complain for whatever reason ie damaged/left in unsafe place etc

Pretty certain the sender wants to know the item has been safely delivered to the correct person, given that I've never had a DOR that must have always been the case in the past.

If they don't require a signature then why are they using that service? It is more expensive.

There was a post on workplace from some senior internal fellow along the lines of “there’s a lot of people using XP1 still, it should no longer be used” and so on.

Customers should be signing, etc, etc… rah, rah, rah!

Well… not if we’re doing photo capture, which is the whole point. It’s confirming delivery. And as covid proved - signature capture isn’t that important really.

Ultimately, safe and secure delivery is what the customer wants… they don’t care about our internal processes, debates and hi jinx’s.

Well we’ve had two posties conducted and put on year warnings for using DWS with recorded parcels that went ‘missing’. No idea why people are still risking their jobs to cut corners, but hey. The customer you are ‘helping out’ will sell you out in an instant if the parcel disappears.

So you scan the special delivery letter on the doorstep, it asks for a photo, door opens take the photo, now type in the name, hand PDA or PVA 🤩 over for customer to sign, what’s the problem?

It’s easy to deny a squiggle on a PDA is yours. Thumb prints or facial ID will be next.

Thanks to Clash for providing this link :thumbup

Must admit I'd not spotted it. Although there's the usual RM Businesss Speak explanation I can't really see the practical need but whatever. :speak to the hand

I agree that it would seem more sensible to have the signature first and then a photo if they're that bothered. Perhaps they are trying to cut down on the number of DWS signatures. :hmmmm

Nowadays I just go with the flow .... I'm rapidly losing the will to live with these never ending changes & adaptions. :cuppa

Rumour from my line manager is that from April we’re to be issued with a roll of small plastic bags in which we are to collect a sample of spit from recipients of SD’s for DNA testing purposes. We shall see.
