Do you still have overtime in your office?

Seen two posts today online mentioning overtime ban. Not sure if this is region to region or nationwide, but own goal comes to mind cheers Simon!

Still plenty going at ours. Did half a frame today and it took me about an hour, having been paid 2.5 hours. Same tomorrow, although I suspect I'll be earning my money more so judging by the yorks of backlog already in when I left.

Have it on good authority that it's being announced at our place on Friday morning. Makes no difference to me but it's pretty poor for those who need it - PT especially.

What is strange though is that we're employing agency workers at the moment. And with the best will in the world most of them can't perform anywhere near the levels of the experienced people willing to do OT and they cost a lot more.

I was walking home at 3 and got chatting to one who was delivering near the office. He'd managed 3 loops in 5 hours despite leaving all tracked/specials due to there not being enough PDAs to go round. Not 'cos he was lazy or anything he simply didn't have a clue about the area, bundling up and the frames are garbage. How is that more cost efficient than paying out a few hour OT?

This all points to punitive measures aimed at making the workers suffer more financial hardship for having the temerity to stand up for themselves. Done so at the expense of the company Simple Simon is supposed to be running.

In our office yesterday it was said that only 30 mins excess overtime would be paid if needed. Today it was NO overtime all at. Concentrate on Tracks, Specials and Bulk and do what you can to your time.

Yes, I suspect this is malicious corporate manoeuvring.

In our office there's a blanket ban on overtime aside from absence overtime.

There are agency workers filling in some of the gaps, mostly it's parcels they're covering.

I believe this is Royal Mail's middle-finger to the workers; the uppers don't want the lowers to build up any revenue which can help them weather any future potential strike action.

So as we 'lose' 1 million a day, they pay agency workers £16 an hour to do half the amount that a regular red-blooded Royal Mailer can throw out.

I'm an ex-postie and working Saturday doesn't suit me so I'm with the agency and just get the manager to text me when he needs me and it's always worked well but difficult to see where I stand now with the strike action but it's just over £13 an hour and not £16 unless you're count blue arrow's cut?

Our DO has been told there is now a complete ban on overtime, apart from covering for absences, which seems at odd with the joint statement released on Friday which suggested that the o/t ban had been lifted.

Posts on Workplace suggest it is, what's odd is we didn't have a full o/t ban last week but we do now after the joint statement.

Yes we were told this morning that under no circumstances do you go over this week- total ban. That’s ok then, left a couple of loops in but still only just got finished in time. I shall leave more in as the week goes by, no doubt oversize will grow- had lots today.
The ban probably won’t last long, it does seem that the managers are going against what was stated on Friday.

The managers are only acting on instructions from above, which I assume must be at ST's level, I can't understand why he, seemingly, was forced to release the statement, as he seems to be mostly ignoring it's contents.

Told this morning no overtime in our DO, only if you work your rest day, absolute joke, proper busy. going to be bringing quite a few bundles back tomorrow!
Rather just clear it than alternating failures, but whatever, at least I can actually finish on time (I hardly ever cut off)
