is there a decent £500 cube bike?

you could try a Cube LTD CLS pro hardtail but depending on what you want got to Leasurelakesbikes.com and have a look , also look at the new Voodoo range as they're fairly comparable , maybe even a little better value for money , what sort of bike are you after , road , hybrid or mtb ??

Hi mr cycle man, question for you: If I was to pop into Halfords and order a bike and equipment needed to cycle to work at a cost of say £500, how much will I actually pay given the discounts? ....... thanks

Hi R@yal F@il , in answer to your question , it depends how much you earn and how often you get paid , for a quick quote the best thing to do is to log on to http://www.CycletoWork" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; info and put in your £500 limit and see what comes up , don't bother with the helmet and accesories put in 500 then zero the other two . Fill in the rest of the detail as applicable and see what it comes up with. If you want a more accurate quote then find out exactly how much you are going to spend and fill in those details , you could spend as little as £100 but if you want to actually use it for work and recreation get something with a sealed bb at least carrera standard as they come with better parts and you don't have to strip down,clean and re grease parts as regularly.....

I have one about bikes on sale. My local shop has a couple of 2009 models at massive discounts. however, the shop owner said I'd have to pay the RRP through the discount scheme? The RRP on both is more than £500.

My question is, is the £500 under the RM voucher scheme the amount we pay for the bike, or the amount we after deductions have been made. Am fairly sure the answer is the former, but any help/confirmation would be greatly appreciated

£500 is the amount paid to the shop (minus Halfords fee's)
so they dont have the scope for discounted bikes given they pay Halfords a fee
you pay the £500 (or whatever) back before tax so in effect pay back less

If you go through Halfords you actually pay £450 on a £500 voucher
thats why I went with the Boardman comp as with the £100 discount its £150 off
thats less than folks are paying for them 2nd hand on eBay

how did you get it down to £500 ? I was going to get one but they're £650 at the moment

the comp is £599
I got an email from C2W giiving £100 off
then with the standard £50 off £500 it makes it £450 before tax deduction

Picked up Boardman Hybrid Comp. £599.99 bike for £499.99 using the voucher that came with the offer. All round very happy with bike,speed of process,only slight downside was Halfords staff (in my chosen store,so can't blame all.!!) not 100% clued up on all aspects of the scheme. Shame there was no accessories voucher included this time like last but that's me being greedy. We all want that extra bit for nothing.!! 10/10 for the bike. 8/10 for the service.

Instead of using the scheme that only allows you to get £500. I found this site which allows you to get a bike up to £1000. It states that they allow royal mail. Has anyone used it. I want a new bike nut £500 isn't enough for my needs.

I'd like to be proved wrong but i think that they are only stating that Royal Mail are one of their clients. Pretty sure that we are still limited to £500 via the C2W scheme run by Halfords on behalf of Royal Mail

the Carrera fury i got for £500 last time is £580 now

Hi I signed up for the cycle to work scheme on saturday and apparently i should have recieved an e-mail confirming my participation, I haven't recieved one (and no its not in my junk box) and just wanted to know if everyone who signed up recieved a mail within a couple of days? or did some people not receive any until the vouchers were mailed to them?
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks

Local bike shop told me they do not take the Halfords vouchers, however they do accept the cycle to work scheme vouchers.

What do Halfords issue? I've seen letter of collection mentioned on there site.

I bought my bike from halfords through the C2W scheme back in January.

Thing is, I haven't paid a dime towards it yet 6 months is an awful long time to procces an order, don't you think?

Anybody know how long it takes them to start taking payment/s? Or have I got away with it

I'm not on my own either As well as myself, three other lads at our place haven't started paying yet either
