I totally agree. I think trying to get a postie on delivery to sit in the DO at the end of the shift and correct the coded today is like herding cats - they just will not want to do it and it would be impossible. However, if there is every going to be a chance of them doing it, it has to be implemented from higher up that it is a priority and must be checked.
The number of times I've covered duties and the regular postie has said pull this bit out before that house, do that one as you're delivering these two as the gate is nearer this side etc. etc.

But saying that it's mainly minor tweaks which would be easy to amend on the database but would need a lot of frame labels to be reprinted, laminated and cut to size and that's far too much effort for many managers.
Our office has a postie who can use route manager/planner and they are tasked with correcting all the walks.

We’re on our third person assigned to this task in five years. It’s not that they get fed up because sitting in the office beats doing a walk, but rather that they get asked to do this or that other thing for the managers until eventually they stop doing the route manager 🙄🙄

We’re almost 2 weeks into delivery 2.0, so far 2 posties walked out in the first week and 2 more handed their notice in this week

It’s been so successful that duty holders have been given the task of rewriting their rounds themselves as the routes we’ve been given are so inefficient it’s laughable

The excuse we’ve been given is that google maps had a update during the route planning which for some reason meant that all the input from the posties was lost 🤷‍♀️ or some bullshit like that

They still wanted us to do 40minute loops but we’ve shown the managers that the “small packets” don’t fit in our bags on 40 minute loops

They then told us to take a trolley so we took pictures of the steps and the mountainous hills we climb so they agreed a trolley isn’t suitable

So now they’ve said we can break the loops in half but it’s still got to be a 40min loop on the fitting

So basically what is going to happen is we’re going to rewrite the loops exactly as they were before they started messing it up

Trouble is we’ve still got an entire duty added on to the existing duty and their computer still believes it’s achievable in the time even though we’ve only managed half a duty each day with tracked from the loops we haven’t taken out and we’ve gone over 2 hours each day with 2 of us on it

But still there’s absolutely no question that the data has been misinterpreted or it’s just plain wrong

Instead the area manager is saying it’s because we the posties are taking the piss🤯

Yeah clearly everyone is leaving because the job is too easy :arrrghhh

Did Fujitsu supply the data? 🙄

Probably Google changed the API or upped the price, assuming so very much that they weren't just using the free Google Maps service. Whatever happened to using the Ordnance Survey?

I can just imagine coming in on a day like today to find our Delivery 2.0 AI overlord has shat itself.

Google Maps is so accurate it provides real time traffic updates. Somehow I doubt they were to blame in this scenario.

I am also highly sceptical of their excuse, I mean why wouldn’t they just re enter the data rather than leave it to us plebs to rewrite our rounds???

Is there no end to the rank stupidity of senior Royal Mail management?

This insane quest for constant change has transformed a service that was once the envy of the world, to one that stands out as a supreme model of total incompetence.

Nearly 30 years I have been subjected to their maniacal flights of fancy. This will see me gone for sure.

Not on delivery 2.0 but noticed walking out of our sector about 4 out of 25 frames of mail were delivered today. In 'low season', with no overtime. While the managers picked up their 3-4k bonus. Its absolutely disgraceful

The obsession with constant change is the root of the incompetence tree. We’ve gone from impressive military operation, to an absolute shambles that no one in management dare be honest about to the head manager morons who are dishing out these idiotic change orders.

We are a small sub (7 duties) and nobody has completed this week since the amazon prime avalanche arrived, today i only completed about 25% of my duty in mail, most of the other duties something similar and the lapsed duty 0% has gone out. 2.0 should be fun.

If the people being paid far too handsomely don't get out their crayons and periodically deface the operation, how are we to know if the company is getting value for money?

I’m thinking that in future when this s**t hits our office I’ll be saying that the Area manager & Area Rep will need to come down and show me how to do the duty as I’m obviously to thick to understand what is required of me.

An update on how delivery 2.0 is going at our office

Many of us have been paid to rewrite our routes to exactly how they were before they paid the route planners a tonne of money to mess it all up :chuckle

On our round the 40min loop has been scrapped after we requested a risk assessment and our union rep has told us that on that terrain we cannot carry bags heavier than 5kg

Most rural duties are actually smaller than they were before but every shared walk is unachievable

All we hear from the managers is that it should be achievable because we’ve had large parcels taken off us even though they’ve only actually taken around 20 parcels off us but added at least another 30 door knocks over a larger area from the additional small parcels that come with the extra loops

The DPR driver is actually going to the same houses that we are with the large and the customers are pissed off that the’ve got to wait for yet another postie to come later with their over shoebox sized parcel and just can’t comprehend why it doesn’t just all come together 🤷‍♀️

No idea how to explain to the customer why RM like to send multiple posties to the same address each day other than by saying I’m sorry all RM management have contracted a virus that has turned them all into morons, gives them verbal diarrhea and causes them to blame all the failures on lazy bastard posties, maybe it could be called CEOvid??🤷‍♀️ or manageritus??

We’ve got posties coming from neighbouring offices everyday to try clear the backlog, don’t know how long that can go on for???

Delivery 2.0 is basically Royal mails latest way to haemorrhage money probably so some scum bag board director can take a huge backhander by devaluing the company so some foreign billionaire can buy it cheap or insert alternative conspiracy theory here because surely there has got to be some reason why they’re continuing with this idiotic plan???

So Delivery 2.0 continues to be an utter shambles, as expected. Mail failure is entirely on the shoulders of managers who should be recording fails accurately. They should not expect you to take out more mail than there is time to deliver it. They place all the guilt and responsibility onto posties when it is the managers who are failing, probably because they have some ridiculous bonus target or have no backbone to tell a senior manager that the system isn’t working.
