Re: No 16.30 cap?
Ending or greatly mitigating these comparatively absurd Saturday finish times should have been a priority with the introduction of DM26.

No. We start at 8.35 pm every day now, and the proposal is to still start at this time. We're told the longer delivery spans and later finishes are to "pay" for an extra Saturday off every 5 weeks.

How do you go to football
or rugby on a Saturday if you have a season ticket at your local club ?

Why do you start so late? How many wagons do you have dropping off mail and what times do they arrive?

The wonders of the last Network Review! We were told in our first deployment meeting that the menu of attendance options is reduced to precisely... two because we're up against the capped last letter time.
Most gave up on that 15 years ago when P&L pushed the Saturday finish back three hours. No-one here has had the pleasure of dispatching at 9AM in almost twenty years. It's like we live in different countries sometimes.BenacreNick wrote: ↑09 Jul 2026, 21:36How do you go to footballor rugby on a Saturday if you have a season ticket at your local club ?

We had a 3pm Saturday finish time imposed 16 years ago. Nobody has been able to support the local team in person except on their day off since then

Our last wagon is scheduled for 9 30am. It's frequently later than that. Except on Saturdays, strangely enough, when it arrives up to half an hour earlier even when it's really busy. Little anybody can do then, you just be along way from the MC as our last wagon is 8:30 and we're 30 mins away from the MC.Ozzvaldo wrote: ↑09 Jul 2026, 23:11Our last wagon is scheduled for 9 30am. The newer MCs cover a much wider geographical area than what the older MCs that they replaced did.TopperGas wrote: ↑10 Jul 2026, 20:42Little anybody can do then, you just be along way from the MC as our last wagon is 8:30 and we're 30 mins away from the MC.Ozzvaldo wrote: ↑09 Jul 2026, 23:11Our last wagon is scheduled for 9 30am. Re: No 16.30 cap?
People in our office gave up on season tickets years ago. We've been sold down the river by the CWU under the guise of protecting contracted hours. As you get older, nobody wants to be working all day. For most, Saturday night is theirA2B wrote: ↑09 Jul 2026, 22:20Practically impossible for most postie's I'm sureBenacreNick wrote: ↑09 Jul 2026, 21:36How do you go to footballor rugby on a Saturday if you have a season ticket at your local club ?
only chance for a night out. Being too knackered to enjoy it is no fun.

Re: No 16.30 cap?
One of the options of the 9 day fortnights gives a shorter Saturday of 6 hours total duty time, the trade off is a much later/longer Wednesday more time is added to the other weekdays too..
You get a long weekend of Fri, Sat, Mon and Tuesday every four weeks with a rolling Wed or Thurs between your long weekend . So no Extra Saturdays but the chance to finish earlier every Saturday.
Looks to be popular in my office so we may get this.
Bring on a new season ticket for the coming season

Re: No 16.30 cap?
I'm assuming the shorter Saturday is obtained by having more staff in than some of the other options? That certainly seems like the best of both worlds. People in ours are being seduced at the idea of getting as many Saturdays off as possible without looking at the start/finish times on the Saturdays they are due to be in, along with the longer Wednesday. I don't know if they think they can take days off for the Saturdays they are due in.mr hil. wrote: ↑11 Jul 2026, 14:07One of the options of the 9 day fortnights gives a shorter Saturday of 6 hours total duty time, the trade off is a much later/longer Wednesday more time is added to the other weekdays too..

Re: No 16.30 cap?
Christ I'm bundling up/loading the HCT by then, out the door by 9, at first DP by 9:15 at the absolute latest after a brisk 0.8mile walk.
I start at 6:10, do an hour sorting then throw my mec in, sort my packets then back on sorting when the next wagon rolls up. Then its just keeping on top of packets, pigeonholes and sorting until its all done, scan last few packets onto manifest, check redirections, grab specials and start bundling.
