Re: Is the decline real ?
Let's be honest about it, if RM can't make a profit now with Tracked seemingly going through the roof, most DO's not having had a penny spent on them for decades and plenty of aging vans still around, then they never will, if we won't why on earth did DK spend billions buying the company?
What do HR safe actually do to warrant annual bonuses for £1,500(?) if the company really is struggling bearing in mind that staff retention of new starters is around 50% it does sound like they are doing anything but a bog standard HR job.

Maybe they could start charging more for collections?
With collecting parcels from peoples houses, box collections and collect plus from shops, Im spending on average one hour a day on collections

Pleading poverty again, so why are you handing out £47 per workplace coach all over the country , for months not doing anything. 6 at ours £300 pw , near £2grand just at ours . There is money wasted everywhere in this company.

Re: Is the decline real ?
Managers must cost a fortune. We have on one shift in a mail centre. 1 Shift Manager, 1 Span Breaker ???, 7 Managers, 2 Acting Managers, and 8 Team Leader/Coaches. I looked up whilst sorting packets and saw I was being supervised by 6 assorted leaders in a group all just staring straight at me. I was just puting boxes into yorks like yesterday, but needed to be watched in case I suspiciously smiled or something.

The groups of MC managers doing sweet F.A like to block the aisles in our DO/MC. Not satisfied with just doing absolutely nothing they also slow everyone else down.

Re: Is the decline real ?
If I could take control I'd...
1. Pay workplace coaches £5 extra only for the days they train someone. Not £45+ per week, every week.
2. I'd make the rounds the correct size based on common sense and not some computer system that calculates a random duration.
3. Make sure every frame is in the most logical order.
4. Make sure all mech is in the order of the frame.
5. Work out a more flexible way of working that can help increase the chances of rounds getting cleared.
6. Layout the office in a way so that you don't have to walk 50 metres to get your parcels and 50 metres the other way to the IPS.
7. Speak to staff to understand what they are and are not happy about and if they have any ideas on how to improve things and try to make any changes I can to keep them happy and in the job.

That is 100% down to DOs. When the sort plans are written for the machines (centrally, I believe at Sheffield, local MCs don't have any involvement in the programming), the data in Route Planner is used as the basis for the sort plan. If that data is wrong then the sequenced will be wrong, or even sorted to the wrong walks.

Re: Is the decline real ?
Agreed, that's down to the duty holder not telling the Route Planner inputter that the order is wrong or the RP not updating the system.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑25 May 2026, 21:42That is 100% down to DOs. Re: Is the decline real ?
In ours it is down to a reserve who did the duty once 7 months ago being given the time to write down what they think the delivery order should be, which bears no resemblance to how the duty holder actually does the duty.
No two people do a duty in the same order anyway but there should be a basic workable layout for anyone doing it blind.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: Is the decline real ?
We've sort of got a Route Planner inputter in that we've got a com support who can do it if he could be arsed but generally he can't be arsed to actually do anythingA2B wrote: ↑26 May 2026, 17:00In our office it's down to the manager not having a Route Planner inputteryellowbelly wrote: ↑26 May 2026, 16:53

Re: Is the decline real ?
As Ive said previously, the new owner was on the board, had access to the figures and would have carried out due diligence, he wouldn’t have bought it if it was in the state they are telling us it is now in unless he had a plan.
Keep putting the price of stamps up without investing in the process, whether it’s people, equipment or a proper revision all makes it look like he’s playing for time until he can sell the property off. ODM/DM26 is all about playing for time, 12 months since the trial started, various carrots dangled, if they were as quick implementing any changes as they are putting the stamps up, something might have improved.
Letting the current planners and managers implement anything is asking for trouble
