Why does MW continually say "we" want to do this and do that, rather than say we want "RM" to agree to do this and do that, when it's clear RM are making, or it seems, not making, all of the decisions?

On the one hand MW suggests RM have no money and will probably make a loss this year, but on the other hand we know that they have just splashed out nearly £50m setting up the Royal Mail Parcel Shops and probably a similar amount on parcel lockers? The money was clearly there if RM wanted to spend it on their staff but have clearly chosen to spend it elsewhere.

As far as getting the Government to change the gig economy workers used by EVRI etc, I've not seen them ever mention that they are proposing to make any changes?

What update? The full time release mob were told what to tell us weeks ago. This was promised as a live with Ward and Walsh. Members are paying for this shite. Walsh should be sacked, he's useless. The same goes for the entire executive. Not one of them is in the real world of work. Post 2022 workers have been failed again and won't join. Stop bankrolling this nonsense. Leave the CWU. Subscription money is the only way they'll listen, is the only thing they care about and stopping funding the CWU is the only way to stop it.

How many long term staff have left since 2022?.

Number of staff on delivery in December was 81,000 last year compared to 115,000 in 2022 (caveats: probably includes temps and agency, and a lot of departures will also be people on the new contracts not sticking around). 20,000 have been recruited post-strikes up to this July, so we can assume at least that many pre-strike employees left and with no day off cover due to rampant understaffing it's probably closer to 25,000.

It's been a long way down from a private army of 230,000 in 2003.

As far as getting the Government to change the gig economy workers used by EVRI etc, I've not seen them ever mention that they are proposing to make any changes?

Labour had a manifesto pledge for the Employment Rights Bill (aka Workers' Rights Bill) that the unions had pushed for which was supposed to tackle these shenanigans. Alas, once in power the government has been trying to shelve it in order to placate the markets. Gold sovereigns trump sovereign government.

The only changes relevant to EVRI etc relates to zero hours contracts but if their drivers are all self employed it won't apply to them anyway.
