Yet this isnt even that much to a lot of people.
Simple - Dense urban areas with flats enable quicker deliveries—just a few steps between stops—unlike suburban areas with large homes requiring hundreds of steps.

The walk data for many walks is probably well out of date by now, along with the data for the walks on Route Planner. Probably many new build estates not been added to the system.

Understand the repetitive nature of the job. Small (micro) delays add up. Micro savings also add up. You don't need to be trashing the van, parking on street corners, driving up one way streets and through red lights etc. to gain time back. You can fill the card in fully too.
I'll assume you cannot do much about the 50 letters. I'll assume you are about as quick as can be with those (but if you're fumbling the letterbox flap work on that too).
So for the tracked that may/may not go through the box... get your average time per drop for those 150 tracked down by four seconds and you'll have ten minutes back at the end (150 tracked x 4 seconds / 60 seconds = 10 minutes).
1 elephant, 2, elephant, 3 elephant, 4 elephant. Four seconds average - more for some; less for others.
Have your 739 cards easy to pull just one out; pen ready too; walk to the door looking for where you could leave the item or decide you will not be leaving it (is the house on a quiet street, or opposite a school with kids watching etc.); knock loudly; count to 10 max; wet your fingers and pull out one card click the pen and fill out the card; post and leave with the parcel or leave the parcel in the spot your saw when entering the property. Don't walk up or down the steps from the door to go over to the bins, and pull one bin out and pop it behind, only to walk back over and up/down the steps to fumble three cards out of your inside coat pocket and hunt for a pen, then fumble putting the extra cards back in your pocket and write the card only for the customer to now appear, so you go back over to the bins to get the parcel, blah blah.
I may be teaching grandma but you're only looking for four seconds per drop to speed things up.
Micro savings. They add up.
What a load of nonsense in 30 odd years never heard micro managing time to save what 10 mins
First rule stand up for yourself to management no one else will

never start early ,always take a break , dont work over unless you know you’re getting paid
Keep written record of your hours done especially overtime

200 Items between two people and a loop of mail each. Sounds like you didn't do anything wrong! Totally acceptable days work in my opinion. Yes, some people will be quicker... but others would struggle to do what you're doing! Learn not to measure your performance against what other people are doing and just do your best. The real issue is that RM have created a culture that makes honest hard working people think that they're not doing enough, don't buy into it
If you are doing the parcels and letters in loops then I don't know how you can't get done in time, as long as on the loops with less parcels - or deliveries that are further apart - are done by jumping in and out of the van rather than wasting time dead walking.
Where I'd imagine people would be inefficient is when they are going to the back of the van all the time working out the next parcel to deliver, trying to locate it in the back, flicking through the letters to find any letters for the street.
You should have a plan in your head as you're bagging up and be able to remember most of what you have got to deliver, so you don't have to keep going to the back of the van and working out the next move.

You've lost me with this comment, if we're not starting work before 7:45 and the last wagon doesn't arrive until 8:45 how can we get out before 10am on the heavy mid week days? If you run around like crazy and sneak off from doing IPS when nobody's looking you might get out by 9:45am.
For context - We were asked today to start tying up the frame at 8:15, regardless of the whereabouts of the last lorry. Then we have a handful of letters and the odd parcel to take with us. I'm not sure that helps Rage, unless his whole office start earlier. It looks like different times, different offices around the country.

Most of our 1c mail only turns up in the last lorry, if we tie up before that arrives then once the 1c is sorted we then have to re the redirections and have 20 to 30 loose bits of 1c mail to contend with when on delivery.
Some of us would love to be out for 10.00 but since our start time is 8.30 with the last lorry arriving with the mythical 10% of the mail at 9.40 there’s not much chance of that happening. Our despatch time is down as 10.45.
