Re: Failing tracked, and bringing back – duty too big
Use text message to inform your manager you won't complete, even before leaving the DO. That way you have a record of it.
Instances where people have been sacked for wilful delay are normally where there's insufficient evidence to mount a defence, like that postie recently WSWS reported on.

Well done!GizzardPuke wrote: ↑06 Sep 2025, 16:43I don't get why posties give items incorrect scans just to please the managers and help them get their bonuses. It's not like we get anything for doing it. If a manager asks you to scan items you bring back due to running out of time as anything but 'delivery not attempted' then they're breaking Royal Mail policy and so are you. I have this in writing from our lead COM and I have reported four managers for asking me or others to do this. Nothing's happened to them of course but they no longer ask me to do it.
I've been scanning Tracked I can't do as Delivery Not Attempted for three years now. Our previous managers used to wet their pants, pull me into the office, try to harass me etc but I stayed firm and asked for it in writing. No managers have the balls to do that, or even the balls to put in writing that Tracked is a priority service. They're not and so I don't prioritise them. This has gone as far as a grievance and HR and no-one can show me where it says they're to be prioritised as they know that's breaking the USO and thus the Postal Services Act.
Today - 41 Tracked brought back and nine non-Tracked. I think that's my new record.
Also, where can I find this in the policy?
So, last week, we brought a lot of tracked back, not scanned at all. The COM himself scanned all of them as DELIVERED. The next day he asked us to deliver them with no further scan.
Can the COM scan them as delivered after I scan them as Delivery Not Attempted?

No it's fraud - remember most people get an email after it's been scanned so they'll be wondering where their parcel isJohn Gaita wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025, 18:42Well done!GizzardPuke wrote: ↑06 Sep 2025, 16:43I don't get why posties give items incorrect scans just to please the managers and help them get their bonuses. Did you ask for that instruction in writing?John Gaita wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025, 18:42

Not sure about everyone else’s rounds but mail and packet volumes are way higher than this time last year. Tracked have doubled, last year we were doing 100 between 2 of us, now it’s over 200.

They don't care anymore how much post builds up, as long as tracked is cleared.Mickeybrowneyes wrote: ↑06 Sep 2025, 01:33As long as you tell the manager that you have an unachievable workload and you will struggle to complete it's up to them to try and cover some on overtime.
Yes I'm constantly tracked and "performance managed". When I used to call my manager saying I was cutting off he knew exactly where I was and how much I had covered.Mickeybrowneyes wrote: If you are regularly cutting off they may try to performance manage you so don't do anything stupid like going out of area on delivery or idling in the van, I'm sure you are not.
I don't know how to do it. I go into indoor, but then which drop-down list do I select? I can never find it.Mickeybrowneyes wrote: You won't be the only postie in this position at the minute, the tracked are getting to insane levels.
The correct scan should be delivery not attempted on the indoor section of the PDA.

Yes, I've done just that, picked up just the tracked and load them straight into the van without touching any letters. And still went over my time to complete JUST tracked. Impossible to complete just the tracked on my time, let alone any letters.Basildon Bond wrote: ↑06 Sep 2025, 09:59I'll assume that as a duty holder you're probably one of, if not the best at knowing the round, organising things, knowing which customers may be in, and where to leave things etc.
So that leaves just the time to do the tracked - literally drive round to each address and delivery them. Some will slot through the letterbox and some will not. If letters aren't going out then - and this may sound radical for some here - I would not touch prepping the frame(s) with mail. I would suggest you maximise the outdoor time.
Would this save you time in the morning? Obviously, the letters have to be prepped but park concern that for now.
But you do know we need to deliver post too?... So now I fail even more tracked to make sure there aren't letters sitting there for more than a week.

Yes I know it very well, that's the policy. Which is never followed. Only when it suits them to frame us. For three years, I have been cutting off on my walk. I'm pretty sure that every day, it's reported as COMPLETE. Except maybe when COM is off and a cover manager decides to do his job properly. But COMs can report from home even when they're off. At this point, they do whatever they want, and only report what they want, no one challenges them.

No, they never ask me, they always ask whoever is working with me that day because they know they'll do it

Same one as for deliver next day. Not delivered, scan parcel and then drop down for Delivery Not Attempted.John Gaita wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025, 22:11I don't know how to do it. I go into indoor, but then which drop-down list do I select? I can never find it.

As long as you follow the agreement you've done your best. You can't do anymore.John Gaita wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025, 22:25Yes I know it very well, that's the policy. Which is never followed. Well they are not supposed to be live tracking your data so there is a case for a grievance if that continues.John Gaita wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025, 22:11They don't care anymore how much post builds up, as long as tracked is cleared.Mickeybrowneyes wrote: ↑06 Sep 2025, 01:33As long as you tell the manager that you have an unachievable workload and you will struggle to complete it's up to them to try and cover some on overtime.Yes I'm constantly tracked and "performance managed". They can look at the data after the event if you have failed but shouldn't be live tracking, quite clear in the latest agreement that can't be used as a tool to manage people.
I gather your relationship with the union isn't great but if mail sits there for days on one frame or CDV building up it needs to be highlighted to your area rep because they are not resourcing to workload and haven't made an effort to adhere to the USO.
He can raise it higher.
You go indoor, enquire office and I think it's delivery scan not attempted or something similar.

So do the COM's must have the PDA capability to scan 'delivered' without having to take a photo then?John Gaita wrote: ↑09 Sep 2025, 18:42............
