I take all the parcels together, I don't go back to the depot for RTF. Until the van is full. ;)ted_e_bear wrote: ↑29 Jun 2025, 11:30Further to the above reply the initial point of the recipient expecting the item earlier was maybe due to it being either scanned to core route or RFD earlier in the day, I think if it had been scanned RFD later just prior to the op setting off to do them on overtime then that issue wouldn't have happened.

Re: Why is Royal Mail misleading customers?
A simple change in the message sent to customers — something like “Expect your parcel today” — would eliminate a common cause for complaints. It would be clearer for customers, who wouldn’t wait unnecessarily for a specific hour, and it would reduce stress for delivery staff.
I’m not even referring to guaranteed-by-1pm parcels. The promised update to delivery time notifications was mentioned over six months ago.

They'll have to get some decent software that will account for you having to change your route to achieve your specials. Some days I've virtually had to do my walk completely in reverse to achieve Specials that are out in the sticks, so Mrs Miggins in town who normally gets her parcel at 10'ish in the morning gets it at 3'ish in the afternoon instead.Roman88 wrote: ↑29 Jun 2025, 12:04A simple change in the message sent to customers — something like “Expect your parcel today” — would eliminate a common cause for complaints. Isn't it a 4 hour delivery slot or has that changed?yellowbelly wrote: ↑29 Jun 2025, 12:30They'll have to get some decent software that will account for you having to change your route to achieve your specials. Re: Why is Royal Mail misleading customers?
At this stage they should say ‘Your parcel should be with you today but no guarantees.’

Yes if you need to cut off for a special even less of the other items will get delivered so do away with that deadline. It was ok when you were clocking out most days before 1 but not now.

Re: Why is Royal Mail misleading customers?
Royal Mail hasn't mislead their customers, what's happened is that Royal Mail have not explained to you how to use their convoluted, broken system.
When you set your "core route/ time leaving the DO" all the packets you've scanned send a message to the recipients with an ETA based on that time. If you take out extras you're meant to scan them as a DPR route and start that after your duty, so it sends the ETAs to those recipient's based on the time your DPR route is activated
