Not much information in that update to be fair, only 1 office of 20 walks has started the uso trial. Sounds like there are teething problems already which I suppose you would expect.

The only time any delivery postman need get stressed about the workload is if 'commit to deliver' is included in the agreement. Until that point RM pay you for a specific time in hours and once completed then you can just say, see you tomorrow. Some posties absolutely run themselves into the ground to complete with no breaks. Its absurd.

Yeah but if the majority worked like that ( as I do ) what would they have to moan about on here then.

Commit to deliver can never be accepted by the workforce or the union. Nobody should be told they can't go home at their finish time. I'm sure the Union and Martin Walsh will never let this absurd suggestion to ever come to pass.....🙄

They tried to bring it in last time negotiations took place.it wouldn't surprise me if it's brought up again especially with q.o.s being in the spotlight this surely is a red line the union shouldn't cross.

It’s not legal. It won’t happen.

Also it's completely unfair. When there's Van shares that take 6/7 hours to complete and some that are easily doable in 3.5 hours that would be even more ridiculous than it is now.

Of course it is legal.

All the big manufacturers ( honda,JCB,Toyota, rolls Royce) do it, they flash up how much overtime you need to do on a screen bout an hour before the end of your shift hours.

That’s nice.

That’s in their contract.

It’s not in mine.

So let me clarify for the rest of you and why commit to deliver isn’t legal.

It’s not in my contract and I can’t be forced to work past my contracted hours.

They could say I have x amount of hours I’m contracted to per year and on a given week vary that ( also don’t have a variation clause ) but that would mean they’d need to build a system to count that for each individual in Royal Mail.

I could potentially under a commit to deliver have worked my yearly contract in 10 months.

And if the union want to agree to those conditions the that is the end of the union completely.

It's not currently in our contract. That could change.
It wouldn't be illegal.
