It is kind of hilarious that they want to eliminate RSI yet continue to make us walk more miles every day. That isn’t a repeatable activity that causes strain on the body. Oh no.

I’ve worked both methods. With this it makes it easier for 2 people to prep the frame as you can just toss letters to the other person that aren’t for your section. No need to stumble over each over and reach over to put parcels up. Not sure which I prefer.

Two people to prep a frame? We have some people prepping 3 frames each at ours

Vertical frames aren't too bad once you relearn the frame as the whole thing obviously changes. Especially for HCT walks as even if you aren't familiar with it you just chuck up above the relevant column.
What isn't fun is walks that are 5 hours, double slots on every single slot and the disposal of the frame wings so you no longer have enough tops to use for the loops.

Yep, that's what they did to ours, even though there is room for a wing, you now have 2 loops in a column.

I think the commentor understood that but they were amazed offices have enough staff to have two prepping one frame, I know in our office that's not a problem we have, one person preps a frame, or more often preps multiple frames, and does IPS and letter sorting and 9 o'clocks and takes vans to the garage etc etc.

We switched to this system back in november-ish.
Its fine, you get used to it, though I had the benefit of only being 6 weeks on the job when it switched and due to a repick was moving to a duty I had no clue about.

I quite like it tbh. I place parcels at the top of the frame for each section and know in advance if I'll be locking the trolley and taking a bag, or pushing the trolley cos my back won't like me carrying masses of packets.

We've got it - once you adjust it becomes second nature.

Plus point is being able to put your packets directly above as some loops will start and finish on the same vertical column and others will, usually, only be across two rather than the old system where a loop could span the entire horizontal line of a frame.

Personally I don't get the horrible burning between my shoulder blades which used to happen when bending to prep the mech into the lower rows so that's been a big plus.

Minuses are relearning the frame and D2D given the increase in double slots. And in our office the opportunity to consult with duty holders and update frames / missing calls / correct spaces for large firms and putting rurals in correct up to date order was not taken. Many were made worse.

Overall though it's been a slight improvement but that's a personal preference.

It’s so they can add other vertical columns to your frame at a later date. It has nothing to do with preventing RSI

Personally i think its worse. Roads and firms being totally split up with parts on the row below. So easy to forget things. Its terrible.

That’s it. One big frame. Horse shoe shape I believe if there’s room.On a light day the boss has you flex up and take extra columns.

We've just been informed that planners are coming in to do vertical frames this week.
Gonna wreck a lot of duties.
I made my own frame and it works perfectly fine as is.
I have 6 columns and set them up to evenly distribute the d2d across the whole week.
Can't exactly fight it though. Reinventing the wheel is royal mails slogan.
I'll keep yas posted about how bad it is at the end of the week.
