I'd leave - it would be cheaper for them to pay me off as haven't been here long....

but if seniority rules.... then they are going to be paying out others bigly.

When the pilots kick in, that many will leave of their own accord, that RM won’t need to offer VR.

The "natural wastage" or whatever other idiom RM management happen to be using at this moment in time is absolutely the plan to give out zero VR by the time the pilots are implemented business wide.

Call it what you like but it's voluntary sacking. No workers should be cheering the destruction of jobs because they want a pay out to be sacked. It's frankly disgusting.

You can volunteer to be dismissed and this is voluntary dismissal. Dismissal is the sack.

Martin Walsh has posted on this forum that VRs wont necessarily be done on seniority

he cited the example above - it might have been 2008 as stated by LB - as precedent
Have you the link to this please .

Any VRs will be done as always on 2 criteria’s skills and seniority.

Clearly in the USO scenario any unit with a surplus at the time of USO deployment will potentially be resolved with an opportunity to have VR.

Seniority will be the initial criteria but skills will come into it if for example a unit has not got enough drivers left to run the unit post deployment.

No. What Martin is saying is that if a unit does not have excess staff, no VRs will be offered at all.

I think hes saying that if there is an excess of staff but by giving out the VRs by seniority leaves too many non drivers and not enough drivers then they would go from doing it by seniority to seniority+skills meaning a non driver with less seniority could be offered it before a driver with more

The problem with that is the drivers with more seniority than non drivers are likely to not have driving in their contract so I don’t really know how that would work
