Micro-management is a waste of time.
When you have excessive numbers of managers earning excessive amounts they end up micro managing because they have f**k all else to do. Sometimes in our office there can be 5/6 in one day. Plenty of idling going on there whilst we get moaned at for 5 mins downtime after walking 10 miles.

Still awaiting that opportunity to submit feedback on the app like they said they would give us in that agreement they signed.

Yeah they don’t monitor it, but I got pulled in a couple of months or so ago for my driving score being persistently under the magic 96%. Fkin trimble.
But no, they don’t monitor it…
Yep same here, in any other walk of life anything over 90% would be regarded as a outstanding pass, but not Royal Mail!.. 90p

Seeing as they don’t monitor it how comes we’re now getting a printed sheet in pretty colour pinned up on the board showing how long before or after delivery commencement time you went out, how many minutes over your meal relief you were stationary, how many minutes early you returned to the DO etc.
The one that is really galling is the one that shows how many minutes you were stationary over your meal relief allowance. It shows this time as a lump unit so the manager & or rep comes up to you & says “you were stationary for 15 minutes over your meal relief allowance etc etc”. However this time isn’t one lump where you’ve just parked up doing nothing, it’s added up by writing P739’s, doing customer collects, tidying the van, looking for a parcel amongst the umpteen other packets & bags, getting caught by a customer who wants to chat for a few minutes or another who has a query about something. In fact in the real world that us people operate in when on the streets there can be a whole myriad of reasons to lose minutes here & there over a 5/5:30 delivery span. But they actually approach it as “ you’ve been caught taking the piss”!!!!
We have a RM suit comes into our office around 3 times a week (purely because we’re the nearest to his home) who works on all these stats for numerous DOs. I don’t know if anyone has seen these stats that RM are producing & working to from info gathered by the PDAs but it is actually breathtaking & surreal. You would be shocked to see what they can bring up about every person on their delivery at any time of the day. On top of this they can produce facts & figures for every day, week, month, quarter & year. They have been garnering this info for so long they have the full picture of everything you are & aren’t doing.
This guy opened up page upon page of stats on my walk when i asked him what stats he had. Even if you’re someone who goes in every day to work your absolute best you in effect are being criminalised by the data they are capturing. No matter what you say they point to a different stat to prove you wrong on something, it’s a typical case of them reading stats to tell the story they want.
Imagine a situation where you had a day off. Next day you log on and find that your driving score, idling and delivery stats are shot from your day off. That couldn't happen could it? No law abiding employer would have a list of PDA pin numbers up on display for everyone to see would they?

That made me laugh, it’s brilliant.
I think one of the questions they ask interviewing a potential manager is “do you have any common sense”
If no is the reply then“ your perfect for the job”

This is the extreme version of micromanaging. We were meant to be asked for our feedback on this app but for some reason never have been.

I guess it could be worse if all your scores might had shown a big improvement!!

I'd be pleasantly surprised if the performance app/data isn't on the table for pay talks this year.

That's a given and the CWU will tell us what a victory they've pulled off by allowing RM to use the data to calculate any incentive bonus in future.

My suspicion is that they'll want pay linked to SISO data.
