We seem to have pulled out of the small packets market completley and gone for the parcels market instead, I assume that explains why the latter was 20% up this Christmas and seems to have remained that high since.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑15 Jan 2025, 20:20Mech letters were way down during Xmas 2024, seemed like manual letters were also way down. Packets were also massively down, normally we'd struggle for storage space, Xmas just gone we had loads of space, and that's probably after you factor in any direct yorks

Oh yes.our office is the same.ten year old vans.absolutely battered and breaking down all the time.we do have a couple of new ones on hire but what about everybody else. they have completely ignored the ongoing massive problems we all have with old fleet delivery vans and will probably continue to do so.

Revenues are up again, parcels have increased by 19% year on year, and the network continues to grow with more parcel lockers and drop off locations. By all accounts we are well and truly smashing it!! Managers got their bonuses and staff got a few shopping vouchers
But there's more to do.....![]()

Not in my DO they aren't and update suggests they are up 19% on average, which seems a massive year on year increase, although it does make you wonder why the turnover increase is so minimal.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑15 Jan 2025, 21:24Even they seemed down a lotTopperGas wrote: ↑15 Jan 2025, 20:35We seem to have pulled out of the small packets market completley and gone for the parcels market instead, I assume that explains why the latter was 20% up this Christmas and seems to have remained that high since.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑15 Jan 2025, 20:20Mech letters were way down during Xmas 2024, seemed like manual letters were also way down. Royal mail don't worry about the vans, as in a few years time this will become a franchise job with owner drivers buying their own round.

True. EP Group has only committed not to sell off, break up or introducing franchising or outsourcing to RM until 2028. What happens after then is anyone's guess because owner drivers and the gig economy model is the predominant employment model in the rest of our sector.
The government has this golden share if it all goes tits up but we all know what they think about re-nationalisation and that is why Kretinsky was forced to say that he would honour the USO obligations for as long as he shall live. So all I can see is staff being tasked with impossible workloads because RM say they aren't making enough money delivering the mail everyday, when in reality, they are making more than enough and then some.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.

One thing that I think will happen fairly soon after the takeover is a full review of the utilisation of all vehicles, machines and equipment. Anything that they don't feel gets used enough will be got rid ofpostslippete wrote: ↑16 Jan 2025, 07:16IAMNOTANUMBER wrote: ↑16 Jan 2025, 06:38Royal mail don't worry about the vans, as in a few years time this will become a franchise job with owner drivers buying their own round.
