Does Sainsbury have a trade union? Think it does as Unions are usually at the forefront of maintaining pay rises in line with inflation. What you have to surrender in order to receive a decent pay rise is another question. At RM any pay rises always tends to come with strings attached.

For crying out load, this is like a manager saying "if you don't like the job, you know where the door is", I am only 35 in 2 days so didn't live throuth said era, but this to me is maybe like the 80s with Yosser HUghes saying gis a job! I have tried before to leave but it's hard, especially if you don't have a driver's license like me, which makes it even harder!

Live through what era??but again according to lots of people on here lots of easier paid jobs out there.so why do they all stay..don,t have a license myself but surely don,t need a license to stack shelves in supermarkets.

Not really interested in what any other job pays, why on earth would anyone working in RM worry about what the rest get.
Worry about what we get now and going forward.
As much as some on here think we just push pieces of paper through a hole in a door/box on the wall, we who work in delivery know how much we really do and pushing pieces of paper would be great if that was all it was.

No chance posties will ever be replaced by agency staff as it's like a revolving door, once they are trained up they leave. Odd they seem to stay longer at MC's, I wonder why that might be

Yes

No such thing as duties in MCs any more. Apart from specialist rolls like revenue, mech etc anyone can be moved to any section at any time. Managers monitor work rates. At the start of every hour you see them counting the number of yorks/sleeves/trays of each stream of mail in their work area. I'm guessing that they have to justify to the shift manager and in turn the mail centre manager and their boss every last hour used.

Apart from manual letters and flats, work rates get recorded in some way these days. Only manual letters and flats aren't sorted by a machine or don't have everyone scanned. With all packets now getting scanned once the new pipeline visibility thing comes full online, managers will be able to really look down at work rates down to individual level.

Think it's a matter of when, not if RM have every last item scanned at every last stage it passes through up to the arrival at the DO. With the new system when it comes fully online we basically scan a packet to a sleeve/york. That sleeve/york has been tagged as being for a given DO. When that sleeve/york eventually is wheeled into the DO the system will sense that it has arrived at the DO (using the RFID tags) and every item scanned to that sleeve/york will be deemed to have arrived at the DO.
