That was a masterstroke of penny-pinching by the company: make the logo last just long enough until the takeover and rebranding as KDP (Křetinsky Package Delivery).

To those looking back fondly on the admittedly much smarter uniform….would you genuinely be so eager to wear your shirt, tie, trousers and polished shoes if your first bag was at 10am and you weren’t delivering your final letter until mid afternoon in the height of summer?

Personally I’d have been willing to wear a 3 piece suit, dinner jacket and top hat if I was getting out at 6am, had no parcels, nothing to scan, nothing to take photos of, nothing to collect, no postboxes to empty….just a few (albeit heavy) bags of letters and then I was home in time to wave the kids off to school.

The point is smarter more self respecting uniform means time to do your job properly. Chuck on a wrinkled polo when you have to work 10 hours worth in a 7.30 hour shift for s**t money and zero respect.

I think the proper blend of formal and casual was met in 1999, and we were still wearing it after those hours of delivery had become reality. For all that I disliked the 2010 red uniform, it managed to uphold some standards. Though I'm glad we've reduced our daily losses to £999,999.91 now that the logo isn't embroidered.

I remember the smart shoes that absolutely crippled your feet for the first 3 weeks or so. And trousers that itched and snagged on your leg hairs - but at least they had a crease down the front I can even remember the old dark blue delivery pouches, itchy pullovers and peaked caps - it's like they took the absolute worst army surplus and dropped it in a vat of navy coloured dye.

Quite happy to go back to ironed shirt and trousers in exchange for the 2 hour deliveries we had back then - boomers nearly crying if they had an 'attended call' or had more than one bag.

As it is I'll take a reasonably comfy uniform and gaudy trainers and really don't give a toss whether my polo is ironed - the tattered falling apart hi-viz or not actually stormproof 'stormproof' covers it up anyway.

Washing care? General wash and tumble dry if it's raining. Who gives a toss long as it's clean

Think its already in your tax code.around £120 per year.

Just to clarify - you don't pay tax on 120 as it's a tax relief, you don't get 120 in your hand. So for most of us it'll be 24 quid over the year.
