Yes, it was indeed the starter motor. Thanks next time will try this!Basildon Bond wrote: ↑13 Jul 2024, 06:17On another tangent... what was wrong with the van? Bit of a random guess, but I'm thinking starter motor? "Tap" it a few times and it would kick into life.postmanzach wrote: ↑12 Jul 2024, 22:02...so went back out to do one last parcel. Delivered it, get back in the van and it wouldn’t start.

Re: Breaking down after duty finish time
When you got back to office and found the undelivered track.
You should have scanned the track parcel has inaccessible. Then deliver the parcel the next day.
We are under lot of pressure anyway. So what if you missed a track parcel. Happens to lot of posties

Where the heck to people get the instruction to scan tracked that they can't deliver because they don't haveCustard Jelly wrote: ↑19 Jul 2024, 08:36When you got back to office and found the undelivered track.

time to deliver/van failure/contracted hours/can't find it 'cos they don't know the area as 'Incaccessible' - that's
basically lying. It should be 'Delivery not attempted' and let the manager put up with the flak because they've not resourced correctly.

One of ours did. It was written on a flip chart which I took a photo of for future use in case I was ever challenged.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑19 Jul 2024, 20:31Get them to put it in writing if they want that doneFirstPost wrote: ↑19 Jul 2024, 20:22What if you've been told by a manager to do it?yellowbelly wrote: ↑19 Jul 2024, 19:33Where the heck to people get the instruction to scan tracked that they can't deliver because they don't haveCustard Jelly wrote: ↑19 Jul 2024, 08:36When you got back to office and found the undelivered track.

I don’t think there is a option on the pda “Delivery not attempted”yellowbelly wrote: ↑19 Jul 2024, 19:33Where the heck to people get the instruction to scan tracked that they can't deliver because they don't haveCustard Jelly wrote: ↑19 Jul 2024, 08:36When you got back to office and found the undelivered track.

Re: Breaking down after duty finish time
There is but you’d likely be shot for choosing that option because the manager would have to answer to that. Whereas with inaccessible, the item is cleared off their to do list.Custard Jelly wrote: ↑19 Jul 2024, 21:46I don’t think there is a option on the pda “Delivery not attempted”yellowbelly wrote: ↑19 Jul 2024, 19:33Where the heck to people get the instruction to scan tracked that they can't deliver because they don't haveCustard Jelly wrote: ↑19 Jul 2024, 08:36When you got back to office and found the undelivered track.

Re: Breaking down after duty finish time
Yeah, not attempted is flat out a clear option on the "Record not delivered item" list.
Much like PDA failures resulting in people sent out to boxes that have been emptied but didn't scan because PDAs failed to load routes in the morning or other issues, managers have figured out which options need answers and prefer the "Oh, uh, roadworks yo" rather than "We f****d up." answer after a "pda failure" or "Barcode issue" scan.

Just remember this is what they get for their mis-management and involving us in their lies:
Customer Operations Manager
Salary £43,677 - £48,045 (dependent on experience) plus potential 10% bonus and 25 days annual leave
...............so we need someone who is flexible and can excel under pressure. Customer focussed, team player, results driven, inspiring leader – you know how to get the best out of our people and deliver the best to our customers. You can empathise, motivate, coach, and collaborate, and will relish the opportunity to be part of our historic transformation from a letters business to a parcels business, whether that’s through reduced cost, innovative work practices or data driven ideas.

Why rush back with the collection mail??? Finish your tracks. If you're back for the lorry you're back. It's no big deal missing it. Bosses moaning about OT annoy the life out of me. It's as if its out of their own pockets!! They're just worried about keeping their budgets sweet to get them their bonuses!!!

Would you think that way if you'd rushed to post a 1c letter or T24 item only to find it wasn't delivered because the collection missed the wagon?Frankie15 wrote: ↑21 Jul 2024, 14:55Why rush back with the collection mail??? I couldn't tell you what time the wagon comes to collect the collections at our office. We also haven't been told to get our collections back by a certain time either. It comes back when I come back. If I've missed one lorry there'll always be another. I certainly don't rush to bring it back. It comes back when my delivery is complete
