Why do they think this green agenda is such a good idea when it isn’t. Most folk don’t give a damn whether we are the lowest carbon delivery company or whatever the crap they go on about they just want their stuff. As for electric vehicles I doubt they are much good either from what I’ve read elsewhere.

The reason for moving start time up to 90 mins a day is supposedly because of no longer moving mail by air. The planes which carry the mail will still be flying. All RM do is buy space on them. Meanwhile how many more lorries will be on the roads instead. Using green agenda to force thru changes that are totally unnecessary and will do absolutely nothing to help the planet

Them plane journeys won't happen once the RM flights stop. They have to gut the cabin each night to accommodate the loads from RM. The mail is literally the only thing them flights convey.

That’s because the moving of start & finish times has absolutely zero to do with the environment or capturing late postings the night before r any other bullshit reason they claim. It is a move taken with 100% vindictiveness by senior management with one aim…….to force people out of the business. God I wish this company would go up in smoke!

True. Saving the planet is the least of Royal Mails concerns, it's all to do with saving money. Years ago they reduced the number of domestic flights and put everything on a fewer larger jet airplanes. They have spent billions on two super-hubs which is why our company showed "losses" on its balance sheet. They consider it an investment into our future - one that will have us starting and finishing later with bigger outdoor spans. Win-win for the business.

Moving activities online is not a benign Green act. Every single PDA (how many does RM & PF use?), is sending vast amounts of data to cloud storage everyday. Cloud storage facilities eat up vast amounts of water and energy every minute of every day. No company which uses cloud storage can claim green credentials.

No worse than using paper to store that same data which will need the same air con to maintain the temperature of the room the paper is stored in. You've got the physical transportation of the paper and the use of trees to make that paper.

To find the same data in a paper based system would take way longer than it does with a cloud based system
