New Starts Breakng Every Rule

New starts at ours are trained quite thoroughly then as soon as they're released on their own get told things like "well as you're new you have to complete" and "new starters have to clear the frame" as they get ditched on a walk with 4 days unsorted mail around it. Then the same managers pressuring them to take more out than someone who knows the walk will act shocked that something is doorstepped or misdelivered

We've had numerous new starts over the last six months or so. We have a new Assistant DOM(PHG) who frankly was the worst possible choice. Lazy, cutting corners and rule breaking are her modus operandi. So all these new starts were being "trained" by her. So here we are today with several new-ish colleagues who still haven't even been taught the basics of delivery, the do's and don't's, who have never seen even a single training video, and who have all been told by her that it's prefectly fine to doorstep parcels, sign for Recorded & Special Deliveries, etc, etc! And to top it off, we have a new manager, who started just before her, who doesn't care. Any and all reports of rule breaking are ignored. So we have an office where half the postmen do the job correctly and the other half who do whatever the hell they like. Our office, once one of the top performing D.O.s in the country is now an absolute joke. Standards and practices are out the window.

And I suspect that our D.O. isn't alone in this problem.

Any ideas on how to combat this would be greatly appreciated.

Why you reporting what other people are doing? It doesn't affect you. There's a few people I plainly don't like that work with me, but at no point under any circumstances would I report them for anything.

You would not report anything? They dump all their D2Ds in a bin? They open a few letters? They steal a few packets? They decide to play GTA but real-life and in the work van? They scrape the van? Ok, Ok: They run over someone? All this and you're looking the other way? Would you help load the body into the back of the van or is it just a case of staying mute in the manager's office after the shift?

Seriously, though. You must have a limit - you just have a higher limit than others. That's all this thread is showing. Some cannot stand another person doing wrong; some only care if it affects them.

Well yes, if we're pushing it to ridiculous extremes if somebody killed somebody I'd report it. In terms of doorstepping or signing for letters, what anybody else does is entirely their affair.

Does the role of Workplace Coach even exist any more? Several DPR drivers have started at our office over the last six months or so and none of them have received any proper training. The majority spent their first day or two with an agency worker to show them the ropes before being sent out on their own. They've had no proper input on the basics (use of PDAs, filling in P739s, killing off parcels with incomplete addresses etc) and the only guidance they've had has come from people who don't even work for Royal Mail.

Workplace coach at ours isn’t exactly earning his extra coin. Reads out a few briefs every now and then and might take a new start out on delivery for a few days when they start but that’s about it.

Wow compared to ours he's a grafter, ours hasn't taken a new start out for as long as I can remember, the last thing I remember he did was train us when photo on delivery started but even then the manager arranged for half his walk to be taken off him that day so he still did less than usual.

Presumably he's quite happy to take the 2k per year or whatever it is these days.

I have a idea. Put new starters on the same terms, not less per hour for walking the same amounts, expecting door to doors to be done perfectly when you don't get paid for them but your colleague does (delivery supplement) not having a break when your colleague does because your not paid to do so. No wonder naturally standards might slip not that they should but that's human nature. Never known a company to expect standards to be the same with a two tier workforce. It's going to always backfire
